Jeju Olle Walking Festival
제주올레걷기축제
This edition · Data as of · Published ·
For three days every November, thousands of people walk one stretch of Jeju's Olle trail together, and the trail turns into a moving festival: pop-up concerts in fields and under bridges, village women selling rice cakes, traditional games, a lunch stop by the sea. The 2026 edition, the 16th, runs 5–7 November along Routes 19 and 20 on Jeju's north-east coast — past Hamdeok Beach, Seoubong, Gimnyeong harbour and the Haenyeo (women divers) Museum. Anyone can walk it; registering gets you a souvenir pack. We read Korean blog posts by people who walked the 2023, 2024 and 2025 festivals to see what the days are really like.

What people liked
What people struggled with
These are raw counts, not percentages. Someone who did not mention something is not someone who disagreed.
Who goes, and when
Most people came with friends or a walking club; some families finished a whole day with children. Many are regulars — several writers ran into people they had walked with in earlier years. Some walk all three days, others just one. A day is 12–20 km and 4–7 hours: you set off around 9 am and finish mid to late afternoon.
Who they went with
Visiting from abroad
You will not be the only foreigner: Korean writers mention walkers from Japan (Jeju Olle has a sister trail in Kyushu, and its walkers come every year), China, Mongolia and Europe, and the organisers say the international share grows every year. The festival has an official English page and an English poster, and English contact ([email protected], +82 64-762-2190). Everything is booked in the Olle Pass mobile app, which the English page links to — on a computer the site only tells you to use the app. One Korean walker wished the app had more guidance for foreign visitors, so allow time to set it up. Bring your passport: it is checked when you collect souvenirs, meal tickets and shuttle tickets.
Weather and crowds
Early November on Jeju can be hot. In 2023 it reached 24–28°C and many writers said it felt like summer; in 2025 people walked in T-shirts. A hat, sunscreen and water are the most repeated advice. The coast can be windy, though, and on the last day of 2025 it rained and then poured at the finish. Days are short: one group still walking after 5 pm ran out of light. Expect queues at the start, at narrow forest entrances, at stamp points and at toilets.
Getting there and access
Take the festival shuttle. Each morning buses run to the day's start from Jeju City (Jeju Citizen Welfare Town Square car park), Jeju Airport (coach parking zone C10) and Seogwipo (World Cup Stadium, Seomun Rotary), and back from the finish. It is ₩4,000 one way (under-13s free), bought in advance in the Olle Pass app until 19 October — there are no tickets on the day. You show ID or a passport to collect tickets, and there is no luggage storage. Past walkers missed shuttles and took taxis, left a car at the finish and taxied to the start, or shared a taxi with strangers when none came at the end. The organisers warn that parking and buses are very limited during the festival.
Year by year
Autumn 2023
The 13th, 2–4 November, on Routes 11 to 13 (walked in reverse) in the west. It was hot — 24–28°C — and one writer cites news reports of about 10,000 walkers. Moseulbong hill, the Mureung gotjawal forest and the climb up Jeoji Oreum stood out.
Autumn 2024
The 14th, 7–9 November, starting on Route 14 (Jeoji to Hallim). Three clear days; walkers loved the sea at Wollyeong and Hyeopjae. On day two a fishing boat capsized offshore and the welcome event at the finish was cancelled.
Autumn 2025
The 15th, 6–8 November, on Routes 17 and 18 through Jeju City (Dodubong, Sarabong). Warm days, then rain on the last day and a downpour at the finish. Many praised a generous souvenir pack — scarf, sunscreen, face masks.
Tips from people who went
- Register and buy meal tickets by 9 October, shuttle tickets by 19 October — meal tickets sell out
- Hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, two bottles of water, and a rain jacket
- Shoes with ankle support — lots of stony ground
- Some cash: a few village stalls took cash only
- The shows are wherever you happen to be when they play — don't rush
- It gets dark soon after 5 pm; if you started late, finish early
- A refillable bottle and a bag for litter (the festival runs a clean-trail campaign)
- Check the route number before scanning a QR stamp — the finish has two
