Gyeonggi Rice Dessert Festa

경기미 디저트 페스타

This edition · Data as of · Published ·

Gyeonggi province grows some of Korea's most prized rice, and this free weekend fair is all about what bakers do with it: rice-flour breads, rice cakes, cookies and desserts — a lot of it gluten-free — to taste and buy, plus displays of elaborate rice-cake and sugar-craft cakes and simple cooking activities for children. The 2026 edition is 21–22 November (Saturday and Sunday) at Suwon Messe, next to Suwon Station, this year paired with a rice-tteokbokki festival. We read Korean blog posts from people who went in 2024 and 2025.

What 17 visitors said

We searched Naver, the blog platform most Koreans use, for posts written during each fair and the month after (17 for 2024, 28 for 2025), read every one to the end, kept only visitors (8 and 11), and used seven from 2024 and ten from 2025. Posts by exhibitors and sponsored writers were dropped, and no writer is counted twice. Every number counts the posts that mentioned something.

Who goes, and when

A mix of people with their parents, families with children, couples, friends and solo visitors. Most made it a short stop alongside the neighbouring department stores and malls. It was quiet just after opening; in 2025 several found it surprisingly empty.

Visiting from abroad

None of the posts mention foreign visitors or English support. Entry involves registering name and phone number via a Korean QR form — if that is a problem, ask at the desk. It is a handy stop for anyone avoiding wheat: many products are made with rice flour, though gluten-free status varies by maker, so ask.

Weather and crowds

It is indoors. Only two of the 17 posts call it crowded — queues at a live bakery and at a rice-bread tasting — and more describe it as quiet.

Getting there and access

The 2026 venue, Suwon Messe, is right beside Suwon Station (it was here in 2024 too) — though one visitor got lost finding the entrance and another found it a fair walk from the bus stop. The venue car park is small; visitors parked at the neighbouring AK Plaza or Lotte Time Villas malls and used their app coupons. There was no parking validation in 2025. Suwon Station is on subway Line 1 and the Suin-Bundang line.

No post mentions wheelchairs. In 2025 the aisles were wide with plenty of places to rest, and there is a central seating area for eating what you buy.

Year by year

Autumn 2024

19–20 October at Suwon Messe. Free, with a ₩2,000 voucher for pre-registered visitors. Some praised the rice-cake art; others finished in twenty minutes.

Autumn 2025

25–26 October at Suwon Convention Center in Gwanggyo. Over 30 booths, kids' activities (₩5,000–10,000) and the Gyeonggi Craft Festa outside. Saturday was the bakery contest, Sunday the rice-cake contest.

Tips from people who went

  • Arrive at opening for first-come vouchers
  • Claim extra vouchers for larger receipts
  • Sign up for activities first, then browse
  • Buy heavy produce on your way out
  • There were discounts on the last day
  • Allow about an hour and pair it with the nearby malls
