Gumi is where Nongshim makes its instant noodles, and for three days each November the streets around Gumi Station become one long ramyun street. You can buy packs fried that morning at the factory, and eat your way through dozens of inventive ramyun dishes cooked by chefs and local restaurants — mala, tomato, squid-ink cream, beef tripe — with half portions since 2025 so you can try more. The 2026 edition runs 6–8 November around Gumi Station, entry free, and it is one of the few Korean festivals you can reach by train and simply walk out into. Families with children, couples, friends and people with their parents — a real mix. Many came by train from Daegu, Busan and Gyeongsan. Daytime is for kids' activities and eating; evenings bring concerts on the main stage. Friday afternoon was the easiest time; Saturday afternoon and evening the busiest.

Visiting from abroad

One writer noticed plenty of foreign tourists in 2024, and 2023 had stalls from Gumi's overseas sister cities (the Taiwanese beef noodle soup was a hit). Nobody mentions English signs. Ordering is mostly by QR code on your phone or at kiosks — the QR payment takes Korean cards, so if yours fails use a kiosk or the cash payment desk. Most dishes are pictured on the menus, and half portions make it easy to point and try.

Weather and crowds

It is a street festival on November nights, so evenings are cold — in 2023 (mid-November) the wind was bitter and food went cold in minutes; seats by the heaters were prized. 2024 (early November) was T-shirt weather. Almost everyone calls it crowded; the 2024 Saturday was described as wall-to-wall people.

Getting there and access

Take the train. The festival is directly outside Gumi Station; ITX-Saemaeul trains take about 30 minutes from Daegu or Dongdaegu, and the Daegyeong commuter line (opened late 2024) also stops there. Trains sold out on festival days in 2024, so book your return too. KTX does not stop at Gumi — it stops at Gimcheon-Gumi, from where a limousine bus runs into Gumi (₩3,200, every 30–40 minutes). For 2026 the festival also runs direct shuttles, booked in the Kakao T app, from Seoul (Sadang, Seoul Station, Jamsil), Daejeon, Daegu, Busan and Gwangju. Driving is the hard way: roads round the station jam and the near car parks fill quickly. In 2025 there was a free shuttle every 10 minutes from the Gumi civic stadium and free parking along the Geumocheon stream; some parked by Geumosan reservoir and walked.

Only one post mentions a wheelchair, and it is a warning: on the 2024 Saturday the crowds made it impossible to get around in one. In 2025 the park behind the station was quiet and good for a break with children. There are portable toilets; one writer found no toilet paper.

Year by year

Autumn 2023

17–19 November and very cold. Some were let down that the “fresh-fried” noodles weren't being fried in front of them, and older visitors struggled with paid stalls and Instagram-only giveaways.

Autumn 2024

1–3 November. Warm, but so crowded that popular dishes took an hour or more and there were no seats; some families left without eating any ramyun.

Autumn 2025

7–9 November. Most writers said it was far better run: QR and kiosk ordering with KakaoTalk alerts, more seating and half portions. A KPop Demon Hunters photo zone was popular, and the evening stage had John Park and Jang Jae-in.
