What people liked

Parade high-fives and fan service14 of 30 posts

14 of 30 posts liked the parade: performers come close for high-fives and photos, and the songs and moves are easy for children to copy. 23-10 23-13 23-17 23-18 23-19 23-21 23-26 24-05 24-09 24-13 24-27 24-29 25-04 25-10

Big, moving dinosaurs13 of 30 posts

13 of 30 posts praise the life-size, moving dinosaurs; in 2025 many singled out Jurassic Park. 23-09 23-10 23-12 23-21 23-26 24-05 24-09 25-10 25-12 25-19 25-20 25-24 25-25

What people struggled with

Parade spots go early, claimed with mats17 of 30 posts

17 of 30 posts say the parade route fills with picnic mats early, or advise claiming a spot in advance. Several name the dinosaur fountain and the area near the Character Hall as the best spots. 23-09 23-10 23-12 23-18 23-21 23-26 24-05 24-06 24-09 24-12 24-22 24-27 25-12 25-18 25-19 25-20 25-23

Parade underwhelms some4 of 30 posts

4 of 30 posts found the parade flimsy or thinner than in earlier years. 23-09 23-12 25-18 25-20

Long queues for food and coffee10 of 30 posts

10 of 30 posts complain of long queues at restaurants, food trucks, the dinosaur-bread stall and cafés — one waited 50 minutes for a coffee, another 40 minutes to order lunch. 23-09 23-12 23-13 23-19 23-26 24-12 24-15 24-29 25-10 25-25

Car parks fill early10 of 30 posts

10 of 30 posts found the car parks busy or the entry queue long; some found Lot 1 full by 11am, even on a weekday. 23-10 23-19 24-09 24-12 24-15 24-22 24-27 25-10 25-12 25-24

Bring a buggy or wagon — but not indoors16 of 30 posts

16 of 30 posts say a pushchair or wagon is essential, or that it had to be left outside exhibition halls and the botanical garden. 23-13 23-17 23-18 23-26 24-06 24-12 24-13 24-14 24-15 24-22 24-27 24-29 25-04 25-18 25-20 25-21

Too big to see in a day9 of 30 posts

9 of 30 posts say the site is so large they saw only part of it, or that the walking wore them out. 23-10 23-19 23-21 24-13 24-15 24-27 24-29 25-04 25-20

Can frighten small children12 of 30 posts

12 of 30 posts say small children were scared by the big dinosaurs, dark halls, 4D/5D films or shows. 23-09 23-10 23-13 24-12 24-15 25-04 25-12 25-18 25-19 25-21 25-23 25-24

These are raw counts, not percentages. Someone who did not mention something is not someone who disagreed.

Who goes, and when

28 of 30 posts are by families with children, mostly babies to pre-schoolers; a few note that older primary-school children get bored. Most drove in for the day from around the southeast of Korea.

Who they went with

1 of the 30 posts did not say.

Time of day

2 of the 30 posts did not say.

Visiting from abroad

Of the 30 posts, 5 mention foreigners — all performers in the parade or circus, none visitors. No post mentions English signs or staff, and the official listing is silent on English, so we couldn't confirm any. Whether advance online booking exists this year isn't stated; in past years there were discounted advance tickets, and tickets could always be bought at the gate. Expect a Korean-only day out with a very visual programme.

Weather and crowds

It's on the coast: strong sun by day, a quick chill after dark. 5 of 30 posts found the evenings cold or the day–night swing large, so bring a jacket if you're staying for the night parade. Weekends, holidays and parade times are busiest; some past visitors found weekdays quiet, though car parks still filled early on some weekdays. The night parade has been cancelled for rain before.

Getting there and access

The official listing gives no bus or shuttle information, and we couldn't confirm any. Easiest without a car: take a taxi and show the driver the Korean destination below. Past visitors almost all drove and advise searching for 당항포관광지 (Danghangpo Tourist Site) rather than the dinosaur museum. Parking was 4,000 won, paid by card on entry. 6 of 30 posts say Lot 1 is closest to the main Dinosaur Gate; overflow lots by the Sea Gate are far, and a paid dinosaur train links them.

The official listing says nothing on accessibility. 2 of 30 posts mention wheelchair hire (one says it was free); pushchair hire was 2,000 won. Paths are wide and there were lifts on the way to the theme hall, but visitors say the theme hall has many stairs inside and pushchairs weren't allowed into exhibition halls or the botanical garden. The Dinosaur Gate building had a nursing room, first-aid room and toilets.

Year by year

Autumn 2023

2023 ran 22 September – 29 October. It overlapped Chuseok, and visitors mention heavy holiday traffic; the new theme hall's safari tour was that year's talking point. Tickets were 18,000/12,000 won at weekends and 15,000/9,000 won on weekdays.

Autumn 2024

2024 ran 2 October – 3 November. It added a special exhibition hall with real fossils, reptiles and dig activities, plus a long roller slide (long trousers required); the circus cost extra. Rain cancelled the night parade on 3 October.

Autumn 2025

2025 ran 1 October – 9 November, introducing the animatronic Jurassic Park, a pterosaur drone show and the flower-covered Flowersaurus. Cup noodles were no longer sold, and on weekdays entry closed at 17:00 with some attractions shut.

Tips from people who went

  • Claim a parade spot with a mat at least 30 minutes ahead (before 10am at weekends)
  • Photograph the timetable at the entrance and plan around shows
  • Bring a packed lunch, snacks and water (allowed in past years, though some halls ban food)
  • No scooters, bikes or tents were allowed — use a pushchair or wagon
  • Pack a warm layer for the evening
  • Get a hand stamp at the gate if you plan to re-enter
  • The site is huge: pick a few areas from the map
