What 16 visitors said

We collected Korean blog posts from around each of the 2023–2025 editions and kept only first-hand visits with useful detail: 16 picked out of 79 read (2023: 5 of 19; 2024: 6 of 30; 2025: 5 of 30). Facts about 2026 come only from the Korea Tourism Organization listing and the official website.

What people struggled with

Flowers often not yet in full bloom8 of 16 posts

8 of 16 posts said many chrysanthemums were still in bud. Most were early-run visits; several expected fuller bloom towards the end. 23-11 23-15 24-21 24-25 24-26 24-27 24-28 25-29

These are raw counts, not percentages. Someone who did not mention something is not someone who disagreed.

Who goes, and when

Past visitors were mostly Korean day-trippers: families with young children, siblings and friends, solo walkers and many older people. Group outings appeared too – a cultural-centre tour, a care-home trip, school parties. One 2025 visitor thought most of the crowd were retirees.

Who they went with

7 of the 16 posts did not say.

Time of day

10 of the 16 posts did not say.

Visiting from abroad

None of the 16 posts mentioned foreign visitors or English help, and the official website is in Korean only. Entry is free with no booking announced; just walk in. We couldn't confirm whether the chrysanthemum guide talks are offered in English – assume Korean, and a translation app helps with signs.

Weather and crowds

In past years it was mostly clear and mild by day, though the wind off the pond felt chilly. Weekend afternoons were busy; weekdays and the opening days were quieter. For fewer people, go on a weekday, right at opening or around dusk. Check the forecast nearer the time.

Getting there and access

Buyeo has no railway station; past visitors came by car or by intercity bus to Buyeo. One 2025 post put Gungnamji about 15 minutes' walk from Buyeo bus terminal, so a taxi from there is a short hop – show the driver the Korean destination below. Drivers parked free at the West Gate (서문), East Gate (동문, closest to the displays) and Gunsu-ri temple-site lots, plus temporary lots in 2024; weekends get tight. We couldn't confirm any 2026 shuttle bus.

Past visitors described the grounds as flat with no unpaved slopes, and the pond paths as easy with a pushchair or wheelchair; a care home brought residents round with staff help. Toilets were dotted around, with portable ones near the food trucks, and benches were plentiful. The official map marks toilets by the car park and main stage. The bridge to Poryongjeong pavilion gets crowded; we couldn't confirm step-free access there.

Year by year

Autumn 2023

2023 ran 27 October–5 November. Posts describe themed zones (Love, Sabi, Zoo), a heart tunnel and 'flower shower' photo spots, pressed-flower and wood-carving exhibitions, and a mushroom festival by the West Gate car park. An opening-day visitor found mostly buds and food trucks still setting up.

Autumn 2024

2024 ran 25 October–3 November. New dinosaur and elephant sculptures and a big swing appeared, stewards directed cars into temporary lots, and the mushroom festival offered tastings. One visitor blamed a hot summer for poorer blooms than the year before.

Autumn 2025

2025 ran 31 October–9 November, with a 'Fantasy Zone' media-art area, an illuminated evening flower path, a flea market and busking, and a Red Cross craft booth. A mushroom festival and a chestnut and forest-produce fair ran at the same time.

Tips from people who went

  • Blooms were often patchy early on; for fuller flowers go in the second half of the run.
  • Weekend parking fills up; weekdays or early morning are easier.
  • Arrive late afternoon to catch sunset and the evening lights.
  • Bring a layer – the wind off the pond is cold.
  • A full loop took about an hour.
  • Look, don't touch the displays.
  • Free guide talks run four times daily (11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00) outside the festival office (official).
  • Many combined it with Buyeo National Museum, Jeongnimsa Temple Site, Busosanseong Fortress or Baekje Cultural Land.
  • One 2024 visitor brought a dog.
