Soniga Eojuk Kalguksu

손이가어죽칼국수 Soniga plays on the Korean phrase for food your hand keeps reaching for, and eojuk kalguksu is knife-cut noodles in a porridge-like broth of ground freshwater fish.

A fish-noodle and pig's-trotter house on Jungang-ro 121beon-gil in Seonhwa-dong, central Daejeon. Fish noodles, fish porridge, or a mix of the two cost 10,000 won a portion; the trotters run 35,000, 42,000 and 49,000 won by size. Of 24 visit posts, 17 ordered the trotters and 22 ordered one of the fish pots, so most tables have both. The noodles arrive cooked and simmer a few more minutes on the table. We read 29 posts from September 1 to October 22, 2026: 24 describe a visit, 2 only list or recommend the place, and 3 were about other restaurants and set aside. The registered address is no. 44, but every post gives no. 48.

Rows without a count: 6 of 17 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Extra side dishes come from a self-service bar, as 11 posts noted. The basics are cabbage kimchi, white kimchi and pickled radish or onion; one post said chili and garlic have to be requested from staff. Lettuce and perilla leaves came with the trotters, according to one post.
  2. Three posts said a small clay pot of freshwater shrimp broth comes free with the trotters; one called it a perfect match for soju.
  3. Five posts said food comes fast — one had both dishes in under five minutes, another was eating noodles three minutes after ordering. One noted the trotters used to take a while but arrived at once on a Friday night. A group post advised pre-ordering trotters by phone because they take time.
  4. Repeat visits are common: seven posts describe going back, including one with more than ten visits, one that returned at 1 p.m. the day after an 8 p.m. meal, and a self-described regular of ten years.

Parking

6 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park6 of 24 posts

Six posts mention a dedicated lot from their own visit. One put it at seven to nine cars; another said to navigate to the restaurant's car park and collect a parking token when paying, or the gate won't open. One found it full in the early evening, and another warned it fills up on weekends and at peak times.

Getting inside

Second floor9 of 24 posts
Toilet inside1 of 24 posts

Seating isn't just the ground floor. Nine posts describe an upper floor from experience. One diner was sent to a busy second floor; another, the last reservation of the night, was led up the stairs to a third. Ten posts called the place spacious.

No post mentions a basement level; the seating described is on the ground floor and above.

No post says whether there's a step at the door, whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in, or whether there's a lift — that means unknown, not absent. One post climbed stairs to a third-floor table.

One post says the restroom is inside; nobody says whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Waiting is split: four posts queued, four walked straight in. At opening, one found a line at 10:40 a.m. and another had two parties ahead at 10:57. One walked in at 6:30 on a Friday evening, while a regular says weekday evenings after 6 and weekends almost always have a wait. No post gave a wait in minutes. Three posts booked ahead by phone (042-489-5003).
  • On staff, one post found them helpful and another said they aren't especially friendly — one each, so we can't say either way.
  • Prices don't vary across posts from September and October 2026: two portions of the mixed pot are 20,000 won, or 55,000 with small trotters. One regular wrote that prices have gone up and the noodle portion seems smaller, but no one recorded when or by how much.
  • Opening hours appear in 17 posts, all copied from listings. Most say 11:00 to 21:50 daily; six say Sundays close at 21:30 with last orders at 20:30, versus 20:50 on other days. One post alone gives 11:00–21:30 every day. Only one post mentions closing days, saying the place is open year-round.
  • One post describes the subway route in its own words — about six minutes on foot from exit 7 of Jungangno station. Station distances in other posts are copied listings. One pair walked over from the Sungsimdang main bakery.
