Bigmama Pocha is an indoor version of a Korean street drinking tent, on the main road through Sangin-dong in Daegu's Dalseo district. It opened at the end of October 2024 in premises a grilled-pork place had left. Red canvas is drawn between the tables, and the walls are covered in customers' graffiti. The food is street-stall drinking food — a whole old-style fried chicken, fried gizzards, chicken-heart skewers — alongside hot pots you cook on a table burner, and a 300cc draught beer costs ₩1,900. You order on a tablet at the table, and sugared fried hardtack arrives free with the water. Five in the evening until two in the morning, every day, no closing day. There is no car park. What sets it apart

Red canvas is drawn between the tables, and twenty-six posts mention it — the single most repeated thing about this place. Even the wording repeats: three call the result a private room, twelve use the word private, two compare it to the famous tented quay at Yeosu. Two note the practical part: pull the canvas back and the tables join up, so groups fit. Five value the quiet — one says it suits people who dislike how loud these places usually are. Most tables seat four, some six; one writer counted about ten, another found a separate room for larger parties. The walls are covered in customers' graffiti, with a marker tucked behind the tablet: fifteen writers left a line of their own, and one who returned in December 2024 notes that the wall had been far emptier on her first visit.
A 300cc draught costs ₩1,900, and that is why the place is known. Twenty-six posts record the price and twelve put it in the headline or first line. It is announced outside on a balloon and a banner, and inside on a sign claiming the lowest price in the country — one writer had never seen such a claim made about beer. The 500cc glass is ₩3,500, so it is the small one that is the eye-catcher. The rest of the list is full: several sojus, cheongha, a flavoured cheongha at ₩6,000, makgeolli, dongdongju, highballs at ₩4,900. The food is priced to match: twenty-eight of the thirty posts call it cheap and none calls it dear, three of them totting up a whole evening at under thirty thousand won.
Sugared fried hardtack lands free when you sit down — nineteen posts mention it, second only to the canvas. The names people give it are half the fun: two call it animal feed, one 'that taste where nothing tastes of anything and it's delicious'. Five got a refill, one of them offered it before she could ask. Two were also given macaroni crisps; one writer's children finished two rounds before she got any. Water and side plates come with it, and the table holds cutlery, cups, napkins and a bottle opener. The most striking is from November 2024 — the owner remembered the writer from an earlier visit with her father and fried her a chive pancake that is not on the menu, which left her wishing it were.
Fourteen posts call the portions generous and none calls them small. They agree on which dishes: the brisket hot pot in six, the fried gizzards in two, the whole chicken in three. Three ended up treating the drinking food as dinner — one family of four ordered chicken, a hot pot and an army stew and said as much; another writer skipped supper afterwards. There is one complaint of a kind: the person who ordered the dumpling-and-fish-cake pot found the pan so wide that it took forever to come to the boil, which was the only thing wrong with the evening.
How hot things are varies by dish, and within the same dish. On the glazed boneless chicken, two warn off the chilli-shy and two say it looks hot and isn't. The boneless chicken feet are moderate enough for two writers, and one was told you can ask for mayonnaise. The brisket tteokbokki comes topped with bird's-eye chillies — one writer removed five and still found it hot. The heart skewers arrive under teriyaki and a chilli sauce together, which defeated one guest; she resolved to ask for the sauce on the side next time.
Nobody reports queuing, but four watched the room fill. In January 2025: it was busy when she arrived and full by the time she left. In November 2024: nearly every seat taken on her way out. A March 2025 writer came early in the evening and found people already drinking; a December 2024 one wondered how word had got round so fast. Who comes overlaps too — four say local residents, two note older regulars, one a mix of ages. Six describe it as somewhere you move on to, given that it runs until two in the morning.
The chicken goes into the fryer after you order — eight posts say so, and two note the wait that follows, one of them watching her gizzards arrive long after the tteokbokki had come to the boil. Two say the opposite, that the food came quickly. One credits the freshness for the breast meat being edible at all. There is no car park — fifteen posts say so and none says otherwise. Where to leave the car they do not agree: six say the side lanes, five the roadside, two a public lot nearby, one simply 'here and there'. Only two actually drove: one therefore did not drink, the other came with family. Against that, five recommend public transport — three note a bus stop directly outside, one states flatly that you should not drive, one gives fifteen minutes' walk from Sangin station and names the stop. Given that it closes at two in the morning, leaving the car is the sounder advice.

Getting inside

No post says which floor. The registered address says ground floor, and several note that the red sign catches the eye from the road, but nobody mentions a stair or what is above. The landmarks, though, overlap: from Sangin station towards the Wolgok crossroads, opposite a gamjatang place or an SK petrol station, behind the Eli Baden building, on the way to Wolgwang waterside park. Two posts identify it as the former premises of a grilled-pork restaurant.

Not one line about steps, ramps or wheelchairs appears in any of the thirty posts. Nobody brought a pram; one family of four came with children and took a six-seat table, but says nothing about getting in. The address puts it at street level on a main road, but whether there is a step at the door, we do not know.

Six posts place the toilet inside the shop. Three went in — one found it clean because the place had only just opened, another notes new tiling, no smell, a proper refit — and two describe the cartoon characters on the way there. Four of the six are from November and December 2024, so 'clean' means clean when it was new. Whether it is split by sex, or how many stalls, nobody says; one post carries a tick beside 'toilet', but in a row with wifi and high chairs, so it is copied from the listing.

What we do not know

The posts cluster around the opening, and not one was written in 2026. Twenty of the thirty fall in the three months from November 2024 to January 2025; after that there are three in February, one each in March, April, June and July, and one in December. Those first three months describe themselves as visits to somewhere newly opened, so they read as an opening wave. Most of what we record here is therefore the shop in its first three months, prices and menu included. It was still trading in a December 2025 post, but of the nine months since we know nothing. Check that it is open before you go.
Two phone numbers circulate: eight posts give one beginning 0507 — the form Korean services use to mask a real number — and two give a local 053 line, which may be the shop's own. We have not rung either. The posts are from 2024 and 2025, so we cannot say the numbers still hold. Two posts declare a sponsorship; none says outright that they paid their own way.
