Boryeong Posamgyeop

보령포삼겹 Pork belly filleted thick, grilled on a cauldron lid

Data as of · Published ·

Boryeong Posamgyeop is a pork-belly restaurant on the ground floor at 35 Keunorat 3-gil, near the eating street in Boryeong's Dongdae-dong. The licence dates from 2022 but the restaurant opened in this unit in autumn 2024 — one writer remembers a baby-octopus place here before, and every post from October 2024 to February 2025 calls it new. The house dish, posamgyeop, is thick belly sliced open the way you fillet a fish: 200g to a portion, 16,000 won. It grills on a plate shaped like a cauldron lid, with kimchi and bean sprouts going on beside the meat. At 197 square metres it is large, and twenty-two posts say so. Since July 2025 it also opens for lunch. Closed Sundays. The posts we read run from October 2024 to December 2025.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. It is large — twenty-two posts say so and not one says otherwise. This is the most consistent thing anyone writes about the place. Seven specify the gaps between tables, one of them reading it as deliberate privacy. Two describe the layout: four tables behind a planter and about ten more up a short step, with brick partitions breaking up the room. Sixteen recommend it for a work dinner, a group or a family meal — a December post extends that to hiking parties and year-end gatherings. One notes that some of the seats are cushioned.
  2. The steamed egg arrives whether you order it or not — twenty-one posts got one free. Two writers describe being on the point of ordering it when it turned up anyway. Only two paid for it, both as something to drink over. A soup comes free too — eight were given one, and no two name the same soup; one writer has it second-hand that what goes in the pot changes with the day. One table that drank its way through the evening was sent a kimchi stew on the house.
  3. They hand you an ice cream on the way out — twelve posts were given something free at the end. Eight name an ice lolly, five a coffee machine with americano and espresso, one a peppermint sweet. Five go out of their way to say it is not the cheap kind — one disbelieving that a meat restaurant would stock brand-name bars rather than a tub, another listing by name the ones they will eat. One watched other diners eating theirs on the chairs outside. One asked them to add instant coffee sachets.
  4. Nineteen posts say it is clean for a meat restaurant, and they keep returning to two things. The first is the extraction — five say the smell does not get into your clothes or hair, and one was thrown by how brightly the vent hoods were polished. The second is the self-service bar: lids closed on everything, items lined up, and a sign one writer quotes — leftover side dishes are not reused. Three mention the disposable aprons, one explaining why that matters to her. Two note the open kitchen lets you watch the cooking.
  5. The side dishes come in quantity and refill from a self-service bar — seventeen posts mention it. Twenty list what arrived, and of those fourteen single out the pickled wild garlic and thirteen the spring-onion kimchi, two things they say most places do not give you. Four mention acorn-jelly soup as standard, one noting it arrives in a basin rather than a bowl. Six name the potato salad. Five list the dips as including two fermented fish sauces alongside the usual paste and salt, and three describe simmering one of them on the grill plate. Grilling the kimchi and bean sprouts beside the meat is how it is done here — fifteen posts do it.
  6. Staff do some of the cooking for you — eight posts say so and one says the opposite. On the yes side: a server laying the meat, onion and mushroom on the plate and then the kimchi and sprouts, so the table could talk; another helped with the first load; a third came back to cut it up. The fried rice is made for you — four describe it, the fullest being the owner wiping the plate with a piece of fat first and then working the rice while they just watched. The one dissent is flat: grilling was self-service, from a party of five in January — so it may depend on how busy the room is. Seven posts call the staff kind.

These are raw counts, not percentages. Someone who did not mention something is not someone who disagreed.

The most ordered dish is Po-samgyeop (포삼겹) — 22 of 24 posts.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

Parking

2 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park2 of 24 posts

Two people actually parked, and both chose a public car park over the kerb outside. One mentions the alley is an option but used the public lot nearby; the other found the alley too narrow to be comfortable and used the one by the bowling alley. Five count the spaces in front and the counts differ — three spaces, three or four, about four — and four of them advise the side street or a public lot instead. Two different public lots get named. Nobody wrote down what parking costs.

Getting inside

Step at the entrance1 of 24 posts
Toilet inside1 of 24 posts

Ground floor — the registered address says so and twenty-two posts reproduce it. But there is a raised section inside: one writer counts four tables behind a planter and about ten more up a short flight, another just says they settled in up top. How many steps that is, and whether there is enough seating without going up, nobody wrote down. No post mentions an upper floor or a basement.

There is a single low step at the entrance, and one person saw it — noting approvingly that it carries a watch-your-step-and-slippery sign. A different post says the entrance is wheelchair accessible and we did not count it: the claim sits inside a copied run of Naver facility tags, and that writer never says they looked at the door. Whether there is a ramp, and whether a wheelchair or pushchair clears that one step, nobody wrote down. There is also a step inside: two posts describe going up to a raised section with about ten more tables.

The toilet is inside, to the left as you come in — one person gives the location (November 2024). A second calls it genuinely clean and says so is the important part. A third post says the toilets are separated by sex, but that line came from Naver's facility tags, so we did not count it — whether they are in fact separated, and how many cubicles there are, nobody wrote down.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Not one post explains how to get here without a car. Across twenty-four posts no bus, train or station appears as a direction. They navigate by what is above ground instead: the eating street in Dongdae-dong, the alley behind the Daiso, the town centre, a named rib restaurant next door, the public car park opposite the credit union a minute away, the one by the bowling alley. One frames the location around a day of driving between a park, a temple site, a coal museum and a forest retreat. That means nobody has written about arriving without a car — not that you cannot.
  • Nobody queued. The word does not appear in any of the twenty-four posts. Four say they were seated at once, and all four had gone early — three tables occupied, or the room filling up only as they left. Two others walked into a busy room, one of them surprised at the crowd for a place that had just opened. With this many tables in 197 square metres it seems there is no wait, but nobody actually says that — three booked ahead, and all three found the table already laid.
  • No post declares a sponsorship or a fee, and no post says they paid either. All twenty-four are silent about money — and silence is not a claim that nothing was given. One sentence appears word for word in two posts, describing the cut's fat-to-lean ratio and its special processing: it reads like copy supplied by the restaurant. We counted nothing on the strength of it. One of those two also saw the high chair, was told the place was four months old and describes a server bringing side dishes, so those observations stand; the other has no price, no check-in, and almost nothing it saw for itself beyond the room being large and clean. We also did not count the "grade-one Korean pork" line — it is in five posts and it is the restaurant's own. One writer says they saw the origin-labelling board (May 2025).
