Kkeokkujaebi Chojangjip

꺼꾸잽이 초장집 Kkeokkujaebi is dialect for 'upside down' — the lettering on the sign hangs upside down — and chojangjip means a house of chojang, the sweet-sour red chili dipping sauce served with raw fish.

A seafood pocha in Yeonsan-dong, Busan, a 5–7 minute walk from exit 10 of Yeonsan Station, inside the Obang food alley. The signature is makhoe — roughly cut raw fish of the day (₩39,000 small) — and a perilla-leaf version (₩43,000 small); many posts also ordered the octopus hot pot (₩38,000) or live raw shrimp (₩45,000). It is listed as open 6 pm to 4 am, and people eat here over drinks under a ceiling of string flags. We read 30 posts dated July 22 to October 16, 2026: two were about the Dangsan branch in Seoul and were dropped, one was a gift-voucher directory listing we did not count, and 27 describe actually eating here.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. 24 of the 27 visit posts describe the free starters — seaweed soup, silkworm pupae, sea-grass, kelp, white kimchi, corn salad come up again and again. Three posts mention refills (the soup, the seaweeds, the pupae), and one found the chili-stewed pupae the hottest they had ever eaten.
  2. Of 14 posts that talk about portions, 13 say they were large — 'even the small plate was a lot', and the cockle rice bowl felt like 'about three servings'. The remaining one only said the amount of fish was fine.
  3. Eight posts saw a big screen showing baseball or football — two mention a Lotte Giants game, one watched a Korea–Japan football match.
  4. 14 posts mention a receipt-review deal: leave a Naver review and get a drink or an add-in such as noodles, sushi rice or fish-cake skewers.
4 more
  1. Three posts saw a covered outdoor group area behind the shop under a blue tarp — one counted about two tables, another went in and found it roomy. That it is for groups of five or more and is heated and air-conditioned is what the shop told them.
  2. Of nine posts touching on waiting, three say they got straight in — a weekend night on September 19, opening time on a Saturday, and a late weekday evening. The Saturday post adds that the room was nearly full by 7:30. Two posts noticed waiting chairs out front. No post reports actually waiting.
  3. Six posts describe the walk from exit 10 of Yeonsan Station: three say five minutes, one six, one seven.
  4. Two posts found things spicy — the octopus hot pot loaded with green chilies was 'a bit too hot for us', and the chili sauce slightly hot. Another post asked for fewer chilies after reading such reviews.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Six posts describe the walk from exit 10 of Yeonsan Station: three say five minutes, one six, one seven.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 27 posts read)
Separate restrooms1 of 27 posts

No post says from experience which floor the shop is on; only the address says ground floor.

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means we don't know, not that there is no access.

Only one post (a sponsored one) describes the toilets from experience: outside the dining room, separate for men and women, and clean. Two other posts list separate toilets, but in copied info blocks.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Two posts note it is part of a chain, and two posts about a Seoul branch (Dangsan) with the same name turned up and were excluded. 'The original makhoe house of Yeonsan-dong' is the shop's own slogan, so we did not count it.
  • Hours appear in 21 posts, almost all copied from the listing: 20 say 6 pm to 4 am with last orders at 3:10 am; one says opening at 4 pm. Two copied 'open every day'.
  • Prices did not change across the July–October posts. One post gives a full bill: ₩97,000 for octopus hot pot, blanched whelk, cockle rice and beer. Two posts say prices were reasonable; none call it expensive. One notes the menu board outside has no prices.
  • Most posts give the phone number as 0507-1476-4255 (one has a typo). Some advise booking by phone on weekends, but no post says they booked.
  • The same phrases — good for solo drinking, family, office parties and dates; 'original makhoe house'; 'seafood bar open until dawn' — recur in more than ten posts in nearly the same order. Two posts disclose sponsorship, one mentions an earlier visit as a blogger-review guest, and the rest say nothing about who paid. One writer knew the owner and got free seafood.
