Geumsu Bokguk Centum
금수복국 센텀점 Geumsu means golden water and bokguk is pufferfish soup; Centum is the district, so the name reads as the Centum branch of the Golden Water Pufferfish Soup house.
Data as of · Published ·
Geumsu Bokguk's Centum branch is a pufferfish-soup house in the Centum Square building across the road from BEXCO. The registered name carries the branch; the sign and the customers just say Centum. It is a branch of the original house in Jung-dong, Haeundae, and two writers note there are several more in Seoul. The soup comes from three fish — silver, blunthead and yellowfin — each in a clear or a spicy broth, standard or large. The fried fish, the dressed skin, the cold raw dish, the cutlet and the dumplings can all be ordered separately. It opens in the morning and closes at ten at night, and most of the posts come from two kinds of visitor: someone nursing a hangover, and someone who came for a BEXCO event and needed a meal. The posts we read run from January 2025 to September 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart
- On a weekday lunchtime, expect to wait. Two writers arrived before the lunch rush and still found the room busy; one waited ten minutes on a weekday noon, and another queued on a weekend afternoon. It does not look like a long wait, though: one notes the tables turn fast enough that the line stays short, and another walked straight in at five in the afternoon — one table occupied when she sat down, five or six by the time she left. One writer records that the waiting is handled with chairs by the front door, and that you can join the queue in advance through the CatchTable app.
- The one thing nobody argues about here is the fried pufferfish. Everyone who ate it praised it: the leanest of fried fish; the best fried fish one writer had had in her life; crisp outside and springy inside in exact balance; good enough to want a portion to carry home. One liked it best dipped in wasabi salt. It usually arrives as the couple set — dressed skin plus the fried fish — added onto a bowl of soup. Which soup people order varies; this does not.
- It is not the same room as the head shop. Three writers know both, and all three find this one tidier and calmer: modern and comfortable where the original has the feel of an old house; distinctly cleaner and more composed than the head shop; come here if you want to eat without the head shop's crush. One of them still prefers the original. The menus differ too — one writer notes that the Daechi-dong branch in Seoul keeps live chambok and this one does not.

Parking

Plenty of posts mention parking; one person actually parked. Eight touch on it, but seven are a single line in a bullet block — "1 hour free", "there is mall parking" — or third-person instructions that end "you just use it". One writer describes doing it: round the corner and up to level two above ground, one hour free with a meal and a thousand won per extra half hour, and you must register the plate. She also compares the cost with BEXCO's own car park. The two accounts of where it is do not match: she says level two above ground, another post says the building's underground car park. Which is right, or whether both work, we do not know. The one hour free is the same in five posts.

Getting there

Getting inside
No post says which floor. Our ledger puts the shop at unit 101-1 on the ground floor of Centum Square, and one writer copied that unit number into an address line, but not one of the sixteen states a floor. Whether there are steps, and how many doors there are, we also do not know — one writer notes coming in through a back door past the kitchen and how it looks from the front, which tells us only that there is more than one. Two other businesses trade on that same ground floor, so from the posts alone you could not tell which door is ours.
Nobody wrote about getting in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. The words for wheelchair, pushchair, ramp, doorstep, step and step-free appear nowhere in the sixteen posts — we searched by machine and checked by hand. There is no claim that it works, and none that it does not.
Not one post mentions a toilet. The word does not appear once in the sixteen. Whether it is inside the restaurant or out in the building's corridor, and whether the men's and women's are separate, we do not know.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Sixteen posts, not twenty-seven. Eleven of the twenty-seven that came in under this address turned out not to be about this restaurant. Seven are about neighbours on the same floor: the ground floor of Centum Square is shared, so a stir-fried-octopus house at unit 102 and a grill house at unit 103 carry the same street address as we do. Two of those seven do name us — but only as a landmark, as in "right next to Geumsu Bokguk, so it's easy to find". Four more are about the original Haeundae house: one says outright "the Geumsu Bokguk head shop right beside our lodging... there's a second floor too, and it's open around the clock" (this branch closes at ten), two are round-ups whose entry is named "head shop" or "Haeundae head shop", and one admits in its own words to being a travel plan assembled from other people's blogs.
- The Michelin listing is not this restaurant's. Six posts mention three consecutive years in the guide, from 2024 to 2026, and all six are talking about the Haeundae head shop — five say so explicitly, and the sixth writes of this branch as inheriting the head shop's reputation. Not one post claims the listing for this address, so we have not counted it as an award for this kitchen.
- Nobody wrote about getting here without a car in their own footsteps. In sixteen posts not one describes the walk from a subway or a bus. One gives "five minutes from exits 3 or 9 at Centum City station", but that sits in an information block at the foot of the post, not in an account of walking it. Four writers came over from business at BEXCO and none of them says which door they left by or how long it took. This is not a claim that the trip is hard — it is a record that nobody wrote it down.
- No post declares a sponsorship, and one states plainly that she paid her own way. Two, though, need reading with care. One from March 2025 is written in a promotional register, transcribing some thirty lines of prices along with gift-card denominations and whether the local currency card earns cashback. One from July 2026 carries third-person passages that read as if supplied — the modern, comfortable interior set against the old-house feel of the original. Both are counted, because both contain unmistakable records of eating: a large silver-pufferfish bowl and a cutlet in the first, a chambok set for two shared with a sister and a dipping sauce asked for separately in the second. Nothing was counted from the passages that look copied.
- The opening time appears to have changed. Four posts say seven in the morning and six say eight, and the dates separate cleanly: the seven-o'clock posts are from January 2025, June 2025, March 2026 and July 2026, while every eight-o'clock post is from 14 August 2026 or later. That is a change, not a disagreement, and eight looks current. Last orders moved too — 21:30 in the January 2025 post, 21:20 in three posts from July and August 2026. We have only read the posts, not asked the restaurant, so anyone planning an early breakfast is better off phoning.
