Patikdang

팥익당 Pat is the Korean red (adzuki) bean and -dang means a shop or house; the sign calls it a handmade red-bean specialty shop.

Compiled from 29 blog posts read in fullSources →

A small red-bean bingsu shop on the ground floor of the Samik Beach apartment B arcade in Namcheon-dong, Suyeong-gu, Busan. The house-cooked domestic red beans come in a separate bowl; the water-ice bowl is 4,500 won and the milk-ice 'Sareureu' bowl 6,500 won. A self-serve bar of soybean, black-sesame, cinnamon and green-tea powders and sorghum tea is free. We read 30 posts from October 2024 to September 2026; one was about another shop and was set aside, and all remaining 29 describe actual visits. Every item went up by 500 won sometime between November 2024 and April 2025.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Seventeen posts call it cheap and none call it expensive. Posts from Oct-Nov 2024 give 4,000 won for water ice and 6,000 for milk ice; from April 2025 it is 4,500 and 6,500. One writer eating a mid-teens-thousand-won bingsu in Haeundae says they kept thinking of how good value this place was.
  2. Thirteen posts mention free self-serve domestic sorghum tea. Beside it is a toppings bar of soybean, black sesame, cinnamon, green-tea powder and roasted brown rice that you scoop into paper cups; one writer stresses it is all free, another notes a sign warning that too much powder makes it chalky.
  3. Fourteen posts say the beans are not very sweet and two say they are sweet. Typical lines: almost no taste of sugar, not sweet and clean. The green-tea and black-sesame sauces are another matter: three writers were told by the owner to pour them a little at a time because they are sweet.
  4. Fourteen posts call the shop small. Six count four tables inside and four count five, mostly two-seaters. Nine posts mention outdoor terrace tables, counted variously as three, four or two; some note the view of Gwangan Bridge and the sea, one that it gets windy.
3 more
  1. Three posts waited or were told to wait: one couple in Nov 2024 was turned away for lack of seats and came back 30 minutes later, one saw a party waiting as they left, and one regular says weekends sometimes mean a short wait. One post says you take a number when ordering if you want a seat. Two say the bowls came out quickly.
  2. Nine posts say the portions are large: milk ice piled like a mountain, about one and a half servings, and even the 4,500-won 'baby' milk bowl arriving in the same full-size bowl.
  3. Seven posts describe repeat visits, including twice in one June and a writer on their umpteenth visit.

Parking

5 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park5 of 29 posts

Five posts say first-hand that you park in the B-arcade lot right out front; one estimates about 15 spaces but full on weekends and evenings, another just caught the last spot. One post's copied info block says no parking; we did not count it.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 3 (of 29 posts read)

Three posts place it on the ground floor of the arcade, but nobody wrote about a step at the door or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means we don't know, not that there is a problem.

No one mentioned the toilet, whether it is inside or shared, or separated by gender. We don't know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Prices depend on the date: Oct-Nov 2024 posts show 4,000 / 6,000 / 8,000 / 4,000 won for water ice, milk ice, flavoured bowls and porridge; from April 2025 each is 500 won higher. One bowl per person runs 4,500-8,500 won.
  • The red-bean porridge pauses in summer: four posts say it is not sold from about June to September (one quotes a sign at the door), and one heard it returns around Chuseok.
  • Sixteen posts give hours of 11:00-23:00, nine a last order at 22:30 and fifteen a Monday closing; one post alone lists the days as Tuesday to Saturday. Several of these are copied info blocks rather than first-hand.
  • No post describes getting there by subway or bus; one says it is about a five-minute walk from Gwangalli Beach.
  • Seven posts give the same phone number, 0507-1399-7131, but none says whether reservations are taken.
  • Two posts say idols have visited, but this is hearsay or unclear, so we did not count it.
