Haennim Chojang

햇님초장 Haennim is an affectionate word for the sun, and chojang is short for cho-gochujang, the vinegared chili sauce eaten with raw fish; a chojang-jip like this one sets the table for fish you buy at the market stalls.

A chojang-jip, unit 97 inside Namcheon Beach Market in Suyeong-gu, Busan. You buy fish at a market stall, the stall brings it over sliced, and this house charges 6,000 won a head for the table and side dishes, then cooks maeuntang (12,000 / 15,000 won) or clam soup (15,000 / 20,000 won). The fish is paid at the stall; table charge, stews and drinks are paid here. We read 19 posts from November 2024 to September 2026 and counted 15 as actual visits; 2 were about other shops and 2 (a list post and a duplicate of the same visit) were not counted.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Seven of the 15 visits were family outings; three posts say they came because it is a father's or father-in-law's regular spot, and one mentions a six-year-old eating small pieces of live octopus. Two went as a couple, one with friends, one with a group.
  2. You can book: four posts booked or saw reserved tables. One had a 5 p.m. table with the fish ordered ahead and ready on arrival; another phoned ahead and had its flounder within five minutes. One post advises booking on weekends.
  3. Three posts call the owners kind; one says they swapped in a storage-seat chair for coats and bags without being asked. Two November 2024 posts describe a young couple running it, though those two read like the same promotional template.
  4. One post calls the place fairly large and points to a smoking room toward the back; another describes it as tucked into a quiet inner corner of the market.

Things you can check on site

  • Smoking room 1 of 14 posts
  • Beer served 1 of 14 posts
  • Bag storage 1 of 14 posts

These are raw counts, not percentages. Someone who did not mention something is not someone who disagreed.

The most ordered dish is maeuntang (매운탕) — 10 of 14 posts.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

Parking

3 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park3 of 14 posts

Three posts parked at the market lot, one calling it roomy inside and out. It is the market's lot (indoor and street-side), not the shop's own; that it is paid appears only in two posts' info blocks.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 14 posts read)

The floor is unclear: the registered address says basement level 1 of the market, but one September 2026 post says ground floor. Posts mention entering by market gates 1, 7 or 8, and none mention going down stairs.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. That means we don't know, not that it can't.

Two posts say it sits right next to the market toilets, which appear to be shared market facilities; nobody says whether there is one inside or whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 16 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Waiting varies. Two posts waited briefly (December 2025, February 2026) without saying how long; one in March 2026 wondered why it alone was empty. One post notes the market's chojang tables were nearly full by around 7 p.m.
  • The only transit note is a summary line in one post saying it is a short walk from exit 3 of Namcheon Station on Line 2; we treat it as copied information, and no post describes actually walking there.
  • Four posts give the same hours, 13:00 to 22:30, all in info-block form. Days off differ: a November 2024 post says open every day, a September 2026 post lists Tuesday to Sunday. Check before going.
  • Seven posts give the 6,000-won table charge, and the stew prices match between November 2024 and September 2026. But fish is paid separately at the stalls, so we can't state a full meal price; the only bill from this house is 66,000 won for four people's drinks and stew.
  • Three posts list the phone number 0507-1308-8193, and one post phoned ahead to reserve.
  • Some posts look templated: two startup-advice blogs from November 18 and 20, 2024 repeat the same phrases in the same order, and two January 2026 posts are the same visit published twice by one author, so we counted it once.
