Korean

Goma Daegutang

고마대구탕 Goma is Gyeongsang dialect (as in 'goma dwaetda', 'that's enough'); a sign in the shop says the name means the flavour can't get any better — daegutang is cod soup.

A cod-soup house on the ground floor of 127 Gwanganhaebyeon-ro, at the southern end of Gwangalli beach. There are three dishes — clear cod soup, abalone cod soup and a braised-cod set — and 2026 posts put the soup at 14,000 won and the braise set at 18,000 won. The soup comes mild with the chilli paste on the side, and people wrap rice and cod in the toasted laver that comes with it. It opens early, and many went for a hangover cure or breakfast. We read 30 posts from November 2024 to October 2026: 18 by people who ate here, 8 that only listed or described it, and 4 set aside because they were about other businesses in the same building.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The soup is clear; the heat is in the braise. All five posts that call something spicy mean the braised cod — 'nicely spicy', 'honestly a bit spicy for a hangover'. The soup stays clear unless you add the paste, and one table forgot to add it at all.
  2. The braised cod can be ordered for one. Two posts point this out, since most places won't do a single portion of a braise. The set comes with a bowl of broth, but one post notes it had no cod or radish, so she borrowed some from her partner's soup.
  3. Three posts asked for more side dishes — stir-fried fish cake and water kimchi, kkakdugi and fish cake, and a ten-year regular who refills the house-toasted laver about three times. Another asked for more broth and got the bowl topped up as good as new.
  4. Two posts say they waited, and both were on the morning of 1 January 2026 after watching the sunrise; one waited about 20 minutes. They come from two blogs under the same name and may describe the same visit. One group arriving around 11am got straight in but watched it fill up behind them, and a solo diner around 10am found it quiet.
2 more
  1. Three posts mention tables in separate rooms, and three mention window seats looking out to the sea — one counts five or six window tables. One post notes the seating is at tables, not on the floor.
  2. One family with a two-year-old counted about three IKEA high chairs and says the child ate a full meal of laver, rice, cod and side dishes.

Parking

5 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park5 of 16 posts

You park in the lot right next to the building and get your ticket stamped for free time. Five posts parked or confirmed parking themselves. The free period was one hour in 2025 posts and 40 minutes in September–October 2026 posts. One visitor in the summer 2026 beach season called parking a nightmare.

Where it is

Map showing where Goma Daegutang is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

The address puts it on the ground floor, but no visitor mentions the floor. One post says there's no door on the beach side; you walk around the building to an entrance next to a vending machine.

Nobody says whether there's a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. That means we don't know, not that there's a problem.

No post says whether the toilet is inside or split by gender. We didn't count toilet notes from posts about the shabu-shabu place upstairs.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 24 posts we gathered, 8 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices have gone up. Three posts from April 2025 to January 2026 give the soup at 13,000 won and an April 2025 post gives the braise at 16,000; from May 2026 the soup is 14,000 and a September 2026 post gives the braise set at 18,000. A ten-year regular recalls 10,000 and 12,000 won a decade ago. No one called it expensive, and two posts said the price was fair.
  • Opening hours depend on when the post was written. Posts up to June 2026 say 7am to 9 or 10pm, and one says it ran 24 hours before Covid but no longer does. A June 2026 post says the sign still claims 24 hours but it didn't seem to be true. September–October 2026 posts say 24 hours Tuesday to Saturday and until 9pm on Sunday and Monday, but they mostly copy the listing, and nobody says they actually went at night. One post warns the hours differ from Naver.
  • Two posts carry a line saying it's about 600m from Geumnyeonsan Station exit 3, but both copy the listing; nobody describes arriving by subway or bus. Some walked from a nearby home or hotel.
  • Several posts list the phone number (051-626-3330), but none says they booked by phone or whether reservations are taken.
  • Not everyone was impressed. A June 2026 post said the taste was nothing special, and a regular in July 2025 found the laver soggy, the side dishes stale and the soup underheated that day.
  • Some posts only describe the place. We didn't count an October 2026 write-up that seems to be based on menu photos alone (it says its information didn't include opening hours), nor a passage praising the car park that only repeats other people's reviews.
