Sudalba Gwangan

수달바 광안 Sudal means otter — the sign out front carries an otter character — and 'ba' is the Korean way of saying bar.

Compiled from 21 blog posts read in fullSources →

A Korean drinking-food bar on a side street in Millak-dong, Suyeong-gu, Busan, a short walk in from the far end of Gwangalli Beach. The whole room is one U-shaped counter around an open kitchen; people come for raw beef (yukhoe, yuk-sashimi, brisket sashimi), jjolmyeon soft-tofu stew (15,000 won) and aged-kimchi tuna rolls (10,000 won) with traditional liquor. Most dishes are 10,000–20,000 won, and three posts note a minimum first order excluding drinks: 15,000 won solo, 20,000 for two, 30,000 for three. We read 30 posts dated 11 March to 6 October 2026; 22 of them describe actually eating there. A March 2026 post drank draft beer; a September one says it has since been dropped.

Rows without a count: 9 of 14 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Seating is a U-shaped counter only — thirteen posts say so and none mention a table. One post says the waitlist only takes parties of two or three; a group of four found it a bit awkward, and another says threes are seated at the corner.
  2. Four posts waited and six walked straight in. The waits recorded: 1 hour 30 minutes on a Saturday evening, 10 minutes at 9pm on a Monday, 20 minutes on a Sunday evening. One more arrived half an hour before the 5pm opening, went in first, and found a long line outside when leaving at 6:50. Three of the six who didn't wait came right at opening. Several mention remote waitlisting on CatchTable.
  3. Four posts say seating is capped at two hours when people are waiting; one named the two-hour weekend limit as its only complaint.
  4. Nine posts mention a free starter of sprout salad, several noting a yuja (citron) dressing; one had it refilled twice.
2 more
  1. Four posts got a free small plate per person who wrote a Naver receipt review — strawberry-jam cheese crackers, ricotta tomato or ice cream; one says it needs a food order of 20,000 won or more. A line that the event is off when there's a queue was copied, not experienced, so we didn't count it.
  2. Seven posts note the kitchen sits in the middle of the counter, so you watch the yukhoe being cut and the gimbap rolled in front of you.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 21 posts

No post describes the floor from experience; the '1st floor' in the address is copied. That doesn't mean there's no step down or upstairs — nobody said.

Nobody wrote about a step at the door, stairs, or wheelchair or stroller access. One post says the counter seats are high; we don't know if any lower seating exists.

Only one post says the toilet is inside the bar. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in copied amenity lists, not in anyone's account.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opinions split on size: five posts call it cramped, two call it roomier than expected (about ten pairs at once; space behind the stools). Two found the small, nearly backless stools uncomfortable.
  • Both posts that mention the stools found them uncomfortable — small and almost backless.
  • One post came by bus, getting off at Millak-dong Alley Market and walking three minutes. Others say it's about five minutes on foot from the far end of the beach; nobody described the walk from a subway station.
  • Only one post came as a group of four and found the counter a little awkward. Companions otherwise: friends in nine posts, a partner in two, alone in one.
  • Fourteen posts give opening hours, all copied from listings: nine say 5pm–2am with Fridays and Saturdays to 3am, five just say 5pm–2am. Last order 1am (2am Fri–Sat). Only one says it's open every day of the year.
  • All prices are from posts dated March–October 2026. Three give a bill: 69,000 won for two with four dishes and two drinks, 23,000 won for one dish as a second stop, and under 40,000 won for three dishes. Three posts call it cheap; one says it's 'by no means cheap.'
  • More than ten posts give the same phone number, 0507-1485-7203. 'Reservations' appears only in copied amenity lists; no one booked ahead. The CatchTable the posts mention is a remote waitlist, not a reservation.
  • A March 2026 post drank draft beer; a September post regrets that draft is gone. A June post mixed soju with Cass without saying whether it was bottled or draft. Whether draft is available now rests on that one September post.
