Subyeon Choego Dwaeji Gukbap Millak Bonjeom

수변최고돼지국밥 민락본점 Subyeon means 'waterside' — the shop sits by the Millak waterfront park — choego means 'the best', and dwaeji gukbap is Busan's pork-and-rice soup; bonjeom marks it as the original branch.

A round-the-clock pork-and-rice soup house in a side street by the Millak waterfront park at Gwangalli. The signature is hangjeong gukbap, made only with pork jowl (13,000 won); the plain pork version is 11,000 won. Beyond the soups there are small plates of blood sausage and boiled pork, a jowl-and-rice set, and a two-person couple set. Most diners join a remote queue on the Tabling app, picking their dishes when they sign up, and side dishes are refilled from a self-serve bar. We read 30 posts published between October 1 and October 8, 2026; 15 of them describe actually eating here (one recalls a July 2025 visit). Posts about other branches, such as Haeundae or the Lotte department store, were set aside.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect a wait. Eleven of the visit posts mention waiting; one says they walked straight in. Writers report 29 parties ahead when they checked the app at 9 a.m. on a Sunday, 15 parties and a 20–30 minute wait at 10 a.m., 40–50 minutes on a Monday, and about 30 parties at 3:30 p.m. on a Saturday. A July 2025 visitor arrived at 11 and waited an hour. One writer found the app's estimated entry time accurate; two got in well after it.
  2. Posts disagree on where to wait. Four mention chairs outside or just inside the door — one saw a row of people seated in front of the shop — while two say there was nowhere to wait and they walked to the beach or park instead. One writer found the chairs full and waited in the car.
  3. The bowls are full of meat. Nine visit posts say the portions are generous; two describe the meat as thick-cut. One writer who found the taste unremarkable still conceded the sheer amount of meat.
  4. Seven posts say the pork has no gamey smell; one found a slight smell (that post did not name the branch). Opinions on the broth vary: most call it rich, two found it a little greasy, and one found it bland enough to add chili paste and salted shrimp.

  1. Four posts mention walls covered in celebrity autographs; one says the signed photos run from one wall across to the other.
  2. Seven posts say extra side dishes come from a self-serve bar stocked with kimchi, radish kimchi, peppers, garlic and soybean paste; two add that garlic chives must be requested from staff. One post copied a notice charging 1,000 won for leftover food.

Parking

1 posts say you can park; 3 say you cannot. We leave the disagreement standing rather than picking a side.

Posts saying you cannot3 of 15 posts

Three posts say there is no dedicated parking; one saw a sign warning that roadside parking is at your own risk, and another found the nearby public lot hard to get into. One post says the shop covers 1,000 won at the Subyeon children's park public lot; no other post mentions this.

Getting inside

Toilet inside2 of 15 posts

No post says which floor the dining room is on or whether there are stairs. That doesn't mean it's on the ground floor; nobody wrote about it.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. Two mention high chairs for babies, but none mention bringing a stroller inside.

Two posts say the restroom is inside. One saw a notice asking waiting customers to use the park restroom next door because the indoor one is small. Separate men's and women's restrooms appear only in a copied info block; no one confirmed it firsthand.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 20 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-073 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Only one post describes getting here by public transport: a bus from Gwangalli Beach, then a short walk from the stop. No post names a nearby subway station.
  • Few posts say who they came with: two came with family, one alone, one by car. None describe coming with friends.
  • All nine visit posts that give opening hours say 24 hours, and six say open every day; most of this is copied alongside the address and phone. One post relays a temporary closure from October 13 to 15, which we left out of the regular hours.
  • Prices have gone up. One writer recalls 10,000 won for the plain pork and sausage soups and 7,000 won for the sausage plate on an earlier visit, with plain pork now at 11,000 won; a July 2025 visit lists the sausage plate at 8,000 won. The jowl soup is 13,000 won in both July 2025 and October 2026. Two soups and a side come to roughly 30,000 won, though no post totals a bill.
  • Five posts give the phone number 0507-1333-9222; a tourism-info post and the old website list 051-754-9222. No one booked by phone — everyone queued through the Tabling app or the kiosk at the door.
  • Five posts that aren't visit accounts were left out of the counts: two reproduce the Busan pork-soup festival's 20-shop list, and two rework the same Korea Tourism Organization entries in the same order. Posts about other branches were also excluded, including one tagged at this branch whose meal was actually at the Haeundae shop.
