Soup and riceKorean

Saebyeokjip

새벽집 Saebyeok means dawn and jip means house — a hangover-soup house that, as one post put it, opens at dawn because it never closes.

Compiled from 11 blog posts read in fullSources →

A 24-hour bean-sprout and dried-radish-greens soup house on the main road facing Gwangalli Beach. In 2026 posts, bean-sprout soup is 9,000 won, the doenjang soup 10,000 won and stir-fried pork 14,000 won; soups arrive boiling in earthenware with the rice already in unless you ask otherwise. Most people came late at night or early morning to cure a hangover. We read 18 posts dated 8 June to 15 September 2026: 12 describe a visit, 3 are list entries only, and 3 were set aside as posts about neighbouring places. One post recounts a January 2021 visit; its prices are counted for that time only.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Three posts said five to seven side dishes come first and you can top up at a self-serve bar by the kitchen. Small fried anchovies, sweet black beans, fish cake, seaweed stems, tofu with sauce, kimchi and radish kimchi came up again and again.
  2. Four posts called the food unremarkable — 'about average', 'so-so', 'nothing special' — while adding that being open around the clock on the beachfront is why they went. One said it is not worth a special trip.

Things you can check on site

  • Seats to sit and eat 3 of 11 posts
  • Free refills 3 of 11 posts
  • Origin labelling posted 1 of 11 posts

These are raw counts, not percentages. Someone who did not mention something is not someone who disagreed.

The most ordered dish is kongnamul-gukbap (콩나물국밥) — 6 of 11 posts.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

Parking

5 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park5 of 11 posts

Five posts said you can park: the Hyeongje lot behind the building, one hour free, with a ticket given when you pay. Three more posts only copied the same line from an info block, so we did not count them. A post about the noodle shop next door said that shop offers no parking, so don't mix the two up.

Where it is

Map showing where Saebyeokjip is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

The registered address covers the first and second floors, but no post said which floor they ate on or whether upstairs seating is used. That means nobody wrote it down, not that it isn't there.

No post mentioned a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in.

One post copied 'toilet: inside' from an info block; no one described the toilet from experience.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 14 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices have risen: in January 2021 the bean-sprout soup was 6,000 won and the doenjang soup 7,000; the bean-sprout soup was 8,000 in 2025 and 9,000 in 2026 posts. The stir-fried pork was not on the 2021 menu. Two posts found it pricey for bean-sprout soup; one thought 9,000 won was good value.
  • One post differed sharply: food scraps on the table took three more requests to wipe, and with the back door open on a heatwave day it was hot despite the air conditioning. No other post commented on staff.
  • Nine posts gave the opening hours as 24 hours with no closing day, but five of them copied it from an info block. No post checked whether it pauses during the small hours.
  • Two posts gave different phone numbers (051-753-5821 and 0507-1378-5821). No post said whether it takes reservations.
  • No post described getting there by subway or bus; one only offered the general tip that the subway or a taxi is easier than parking in Gwangalli.
  • No post reported waiting for a table; one said it was busy even early in the morning but tables turned over quickly.
  • Company was scattered — two posts with friends, one alone, one as a couple — too few to say who usually goes.
