Minsaengju
민생주 Minsaeng is the Korean word for the people's livelihood, and ju can mean liquor; none of the posts explain the name.
Compiled from 25 blog posts read in fullSources →
Minsaengju is a seafood drinking spot on the second floor of a building across from the Millak shellfish market in Gwangalli, Busan. It opens at 6 p.m. and runs until 3 a.m., according to the hours the posts copy. The most-ordered dishes are live raw shrimp with purple sea urchin (69,000 won), eaten in fifteen posts, and the white-whelk stew spread (42,000 won), eaten in twelve. Twelve posts describe the free starter: a hot iron plate and raw eggs you fry yourself. The menu follows the seasons, with a summer list in August posts and an autumn list by late September. We read 30 posts dated May 25 to October 4, 2026; two were about other places and were set aside, and 27 describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Expect to wait. Thirteen posts waited; two walked straight in (one late on a weeknight, the other just before the room filled). Recorded waits are an hour, an hour and ten minutes, and over an hour on the CatchTable app. Queue counts run from 36 parties at 7:30 p.m. (37 in another post from the same evening) to 14 on a weeknight and three at 10 p.m. Of five posts that arrived around the 6 p.m. opening, four found people already ahead of them, and one still waited an hour. You join the queue on CatchTable and wait outside to be called.
- Two posts mention a CatchTable kiosk and a few waiting chairs by the ground-floor stairs—four or five by one count, five or six by the other.
- Two posts say group tables are time-limited. An eight-person party was told the limit is two and a half hours when other groups are waiting, and their own call came late because they had to wait for the group ahead to leave.
- Twelve posts describe the free starter: a hot iron plate and two raw eggs you fry yourself, with pink or seasoned salt. One post says the plate cooled before they got to it and the eggs ended up scrambled; another broke the yolk.
4 more
- A bar counter runs along one wall facing the windows. Seven posts mention window or counter seats, and one describes the windows thrown fully open to the street.
- Five posts mention a private room for groups; a party of five got the last one, and a party of eight found it roomy enough.
- Five posts call the staff friendly; examples include fetching more soju from elsewhere when the house ran out.
- Two posts describe the walk in: about 15 minutes from exit 3 of Gwangan Station, or a short walk from the terminus of buses 41 and 83. A third notes it is a bit of a walk from the station.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Second floor | 14 of 25 posts |
|---|---|
| Toilet inside | 1 of 25 posts |
The bar is upstairs; fourteen posts describe going up to the second floor. The ground floor is a real-estate office (Bokdwaeji Bokdeokbang), and posts warn the entrance and sign are small and easy to confuse with the door of the building next door.
Two posts mention climbing stairs to the second floor. No one mentions a lift, a step at the door, or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller—which means nobody wrote about it, not that there is none.
One post says the restroom is inside the bar and clean. Separate men's and women's restrooms appear only in copied listings and second-hand mentions, so we did not count them.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 26 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Three posts say the room is not large; one adds that despite its size the tables were not cramped. One post found staff chatter loud near the kitchen.
- All opening hours are copied from listings. Sixteen posts agree on 6 p.m. to 3 a.m.; nine give last orders at 1:50 a.m. and one at 1:30. Only one post mentions closing days, saying it is open every day.
- Prices here are menu prices; no post gives a total bill. One post calls the dishes pricey, and two say it isn't cheap but stop short of a verdict. The cuttlefish tempura is 26,000 won in one early-August post and 28,000 won in two others.
- Prices and dishes shift with the season. The whelk stew spread was 38,000 won in a May write-up and 42,000 won from August on. A spicy cold noodle with beef tartare was listed at 18,000 won in early August but gone by late September. One post noted the beef pancake's scallion salad had become cabbage by August.
- Many posts give the same phone number, 0507-1318-7974. One copied listing says reservations are not taken; visitors queued through CatchTable, and no one reports booking by phone.
- Nine posts repeat the same string of search keywords for Gwangalli bars. Only one of them discloses sponsorship, and three say they paid their own way. A separate branch, Minsaengju Jeonpo, exists in Busanjin-gu; its post was not counted here.
