Hwanggeum Eojang

황금어장 Hwanggeum eojang means 'golden fishing ground'.

Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →

Hwanggeum Eojang is a charcoal-grilled sea eel restaurant on the 15th floor of Ocean Bridge tower A, at the Millak end of Gwangalli Beach in Busan. Grilled eel runs from 75,000 won (small) to 130,000 won (extra-large); the most-ordered item is the 55,000-won two-person set of 400 g eel, a half tray of scallops and a tasting plate of anago sashimi. Staff bring charcoal to the table and grill the eel for you, and many diners finish with eel soup (10,000 won) or spicy fish stew. We read 30 posts dated 1 September 2025 to 14 September 2026; 26 record an actual meal. We set aside one post about a different business in the same building, and did not count one list entry and two posts stamped from the same template.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. You don't have to grill it yourself. Eighteen posts say staff, the owner or an older server grilled the eel at the table, cooking kimchi and garlic on foil alongside it, then cutting it and showing three pairings: sesame-oil salt with grilled kimchi, teriyaki-style soy with pickled onion, and spicy sauce with chives. Two posts are less clear: one was only shown how to grill, the other says they grill for you when it's quiet but on weekends and holidays you do it yourself. One of the eighteen adds the same caveat — staff grill only when they aren't busy.
  2. Floor-to-ceiling windows on the 15th floor look out over Gwangan Bridge and the beach; nine posts describe eating at a window table with the sea view. Because it's the top floor, one group climbed the stairs to the roof to watch the Saturday drone show, and another went up and found the roof is used as a smoking area.
  3. Seven posts went with a reservation, and several say booking ahead got them a window seat. One group booked for 7 pm on a Saturday: the room was half empty when they arrived and completely full thirty minutes later. One post notes reservations can be made on Naver, with same-day bookings by phone.
  4. Extra side dishes come from a self-serve bar; thirteen posts mention it, with diners going back for more pickled onion and radish or more lettuce. Several posts note the basic spread includes a bowl of bean-sprout soup per person and a tasting plate of anago sashimi.
4 more
  1. Thirteen posts call the dining room large, mentioning wide gaps between tables and group seating; one post alone found it 'not as huge as expected, but adequate.' Seven posts came with parents or family and six as a couple.
  2. The entrance and one wall are covered in celebrity autographs; eleven posts saw them, one picking out Lotte Giants players' signatures and another noting photos of the owner with entertainers above the counter.
  3. Seven posts call the prices reasonable and none call them expensive, mostly pointing to the 55,000-won two-person set — good value 'for pricey Gwangalli,' with a generous tasting plate. For a sense of a full bill: four people had an extra-large eel at 130,000 won plus a 12,000-won stew; a couple added a 5,000-won soju to the set.
  4. One post arrived by public transport, getting off a bus in the rain and running across the beach. Directions from Gwangan Station exit 3 or a bus stop nine minutes away appear in other posts but were copied listing text, so we didn't count them.

Five posts parked in the building's basement garage. Copied listings mostly say three hours free (one adds 4,000 won per hour after that), while one post says only one hour is covered.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 5 (of 24 posts read)
Lift to the floor5 of 24 posts

An elevator takes you to the 15th floor; five posts rode it up, one straight from the basement car park. The building entrance is next to the Jjang arcade under a yellow sign, and posts warn the A and B towers are easy to mix up the first time.

No one mentioned steps at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That doesn't mean there's a problem — only that nobody wrote about it. We know only that an elevator runs to the 15th floor.

No one said whether the toilet is inside the restaurant. 'Separate men's and women's toilets' appears only in two posts' copied listing text, which we don't rely on.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2025-10-082 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post describes queuing. One weekday-lunch visit found plenty of free tables. Others say evenings and weekends are busy, but nobody recorded how long a walk-in waits; the claim that you can't get in without booking was hearsay.
  • All opening hours come from copied listings, and they shift over time. Posts up to April 2026 say daily 12:00–24:00 with last orders at 21:50; posts from July 2026 say daily 12:00–23:00 with last orders at 21:00. One September 2026 post and a list still show midnight, likely stale. A single post says closed Sundays, but another diner ate there on a Sunday, so we don't treat it as a closing day.
  • The phone number 0507-1440-9326 comes from copied listings; two template posts also give 051-751-9285. Only one post says reservations go through Naver with same-day bookings by phone, so we can't confirm that still holds.
  • Prices come from menu photos and order lists; no post between September 2025 and August 2026 shows the eel or the 55,000-won set changing price. The 60,000-won Eojang set is described with abalone in one post and with clams in another, and the three- and four-person set prices are barely recorded.
  • One long-time regular says the restaurant moved within Millak-dong a few years ago to a bigger space with a better sea view. That predates every post we read, so we don't know the old address or the date.
  • Two posts from 8 October 2025 share nine identical hashtags in the same order and the same body template; we treat them as stamped-out promotional copy and didn't count them. One post discloses sponsorship; many others read like influencer-program reviews but don't say so, and we haven't labeled them as such.
