Hoihoi

호이호이 The house says hoihoi is Japanese for loose and dangling — an invitation to loosen up over a drink, and a joke that the staff are all men.

A Japanese-style izakaya in an alley running from Gwangalli Beach toward Millak-dong, Busan. It opens at 8 pm and runs until 6 am; most dishes cost 17,000–28,000 won, you sit at a bar counter and order by QR code. Its draw is a free menu item, the 'fairy summons', which brings a staff member out to sing or pour your drink. Per the shop's own introduction, the space was Ikemens' Gwangan branch until 5 January 2026 and reopened as Hoihoi. We read 17 posts dated 22 April to 29 September 2026; 7 describe an actual visit. Nine of the other ten restate a TV segment that aired on 4 September.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Four visitors credit the staff with making the night: a staff member suddenly breaking into song, a singer who switched into a fairy costume to pour drinks, the owner sending free gyoza for a friend who couldn't eat cheese, and a free highball and Polaroid for a table that cheered along. The show is not constant, though — one visitor who came at opening was told the 'fairy owner' appears only in the small hours, and another who came for the singing left disappointed because it was quiet.
  2. Seating is at the bar. Three visitors said every seat is at the counter — a U-shaped bar, 'all counter seats', three friends sitting around an L-shaped corner. A fourth said 'mostly counter seats', which leaves open whether anything else exists. Two mentioned an open kitchen, and two mentioned coat hooks behind the stools.
  3. You order on your phone via a QR code at your seat, as three visitors wrote. One added that sides alone are fine as long as the total reaches 20,000 won.
  4. One visitor waited: arriving ten minutes before opening on a Saturday in July 2026, they found a crowd already queuing outside, and food was slow because everyone was seated at once. Another, at about 9 pm on a Friday in April, got the last free seats.

  1. One visitor noted complimentary hardtack crackers as a bar snack, and tea instead of plain water.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 7 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 7 posts

We don't know about floors. The address says ground floor and one visitor called it a standalone building in an alley, but no one described the entrance level.

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in — not that there isn't, just that no one wrote about it. Note that the seating is all at a bar counter.

Only one visitor mentioned the toilets: inside the bar and separated by gender. No one else covered them.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 17 posts we gathered, 10 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-09-048 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Atmosphere depends on the hour. Two visitors found it quiet — one, arriving early, felt awkward being the only loud table — while two others described singing and a lively room.
  • Seasoning varies by dish: one visitor found the fish-cake broth very salty, another found the karaage lightly seasoned.
  • Opening hours have changed. An April 2026 post gave 7 pm to 5 am (last order 4 am); from June posts say until 6 am, and seven posts from July give 8 pm to 6 am daily (last order 5 am). All are copied listings; no post mentions a closing day.
  • Prices come from copied menus; no visitor gave a total bill. Tebasaki was 16,000 won in one May 2026 post and 17,000 won in September. Two visitors said prices were fair — 'good value', 'mid-range for Gwangalli' — and none called it expensive.
  • No visitor described getting there by subway or bus; some say it is a short walk from Gwangalli Beach.
  • Six of the seven visitors went with friends. None went with family, with children, or alone.
  • Several posts list the phone number 010-8441-6880, which one TV recap says is a personal mobile. Whether you can book is unsettled — one visitor only suggested checking CatchTable on weekends.
  • We did not count nine TV-recap posts from 4–5 September 2026. Three share one template advertising an 'ocean view' and sashimi; no visitor mentioned a sea view or raw fish.
