Korean

Haerak Saengseon-gui

해락 생선구이 Saengseon-gui means grilled fish; one post relays the house's own explanation that Haerak means a fish house where many people eat and enjoy together.

Compiled from 29 blog posts read in fullSources →

Haerak is a half-dried grilled-fish and braised-fish restaurant on the second floor of a 7-Eleven building in Millak-dong, Suyeong-gu, Busan, right behind the Millak Waterside Park public car park. Order the mixed grilled fish (croaker, rockfish, flounder) or the braised Jeju hairtail or mackerel and the table fills with soybean-paste stew, a pancake, japchae, soy-marinated eggs and more; several posts say staff debone the grilled fish at the table. In 2026 posts the mixed grill is 16,000 won and braised hairtail 20,000 won per person, with a two-person minimum on braises and the mixed grill. Up to October 2025 the mixed grill and grilled mackerel were 15,000 won. We read 30 posts from July 2025 to September 2026; 29 of them describe a visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Self-serve scorched-rice tea is there before and after the meal. Thirteen posts mention it; one says it sits by the counter and you ladle out as much as you want, and another says the free refills made up for the lack of stone-pot rice.
  2. Twelve posts note high chairs. Two posts actually brought a child: a family party of seven adults and one child, and a parent eating with a kid after an outing.
  3. Twelve posts went with family — a mother, parents, a sister. One went as a couple.
  4. The braising and pork sauces lean sweet: six posts say so, and five say the seasoning isn't salty. None calls it hot; one says the braised mackerel looked red but wasn't spicy.
2 more
  1. Window seats get a sliver of Gwangan Bridge. Six posts mention the big windows and daylight; one adds it is not a full ocean view.
  2. The shop warns braises and mackerel take 15–20 minutes, but three posts say the food came faster than expected.

Parking

7 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park7 of 29 posts

Drivers use the waterside park public lot next door. Seven posts describe parking there, one recalling about 300 won per 30 minutes. The line about 30 minutes of parking covered per table for two or more diners is mostly copied from the shop's notice. Posts disagree on a private lot: one found space for about three cars beside the 7-Eleven, another says there is none.

Getting inside

Second floor1 of 29 posts
Toilet inside4 of 29 posts
Separate restrooms4 of 29 posts

The restaurant is upstairs; one post says you turn past the 7-Eleven and go up to the second floor, but nobody says whether that is by stairs or a lift.

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. That means we don't know, not that it's impossible.

The restroom is inside the restaurant — four posts say so, one placing it right by the entrance. Four posts say it is split by gender, and some mention mouthwash left out for guests.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices went up. Menus in Aug–Oct 2025 posts list the mixed grill and grilled mackerel at 15,000 won and braised mackerel at 16,000 won per person; from March 2026 the first two are 16,000 won and braised mackerel is 35,000 won for two. Braised hairtail stayed at 20,000 won. No post calls it expensive; three call the price fair.
  • Twenty-two posts give opening hours, nearly all copied from the shop's listing: usually 11:00–21:00, last order 20:00, closed Wednesdays. Three posts from Sep–Oct 2025 say Sundays close at 20:00, one December 2025 post gives a 20:00 close every day, and one August 2025 post says closed Thursdays. 2026 posts no longer single out Sunday.
  • No post describes queuing — which means nobody wrote about it, not that there is never a wait. One post notes waiting chairs set out because mealtimes can get busy, and others say the room filled quickly in the early evening.
  • Getting there by public transport is unclear: one post says it's a bit far from the subway and suggests a car or taxi, another suggests taking a bus from the station or driving.
  • Many posts list the phone number 0507-1496-1667. Four posts booked ahead by Naver or phone, and several copy the shop's advice that groups should reserve.
  • Some posts are promotional: one discloses sponsorship, one says the meal was provided, and four end with an identical 16-hashtag block. Those four still describe what they ate, so we counted them. Review events and coupons are the shop's offers and we don't treat them as evidence.
  • One April 2026 post gives a different address (OK Town, 7 Millak-subyeon-ro) and a 15:00–17:00 break. The same wall slogan and table-side deboning suggest it's this restaurant, so we counted it, but left its hours out.
  • Several posts repeat the shop's own story: it opened in 2016 as Jeongkuk, closed during COVID, and reopened as Haerak in August 2024. All the posts we read are from after the reopening.
  • One post disagrees: visiting with her mother, the writer found it neither good nor bad, just filling, and said she'd try a different grilled-fish place next time.
