Deungdae Hoechojang

등대회초장 Deungdae means lighthouse, and a hoe-chojang is a chili-sauce house: you buy raw fish at the market across the street and pay this room for the table setting.

Compiled from 15 blog posts read in fullSources →

Deungdae Hoechojang is a chili-sauce house on the ground floor of the Ocean Terrace 3 shopping arcade in Millak-dong, Busan, directly across from the Millak fishermen's live-fish market. You buy fish at the market and say you'll eat at Deungdae; the stall plates it and brings it to your table, and the house charges 6,000 won a head for the setting. On top of that you can order spicy fish stew (10,000 / 15,000 / 20,000 won by size), seafood ramyeon and sushi rice, or skip the market and order assorted sashimi through the house (40,000 won for a medium). Gwangan Bridge fills the windows. We read 17 posts from October 2025 to October 2026; one was about a different chili-sauce house in the same building and was set aside, leaving 16 first-hand visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. This is a bring-your-own-fish room. Of the 16 visits, 11 bought fish across the street (mostly at Joeun Sanghoe) and ate it here, with the fish vendor walking it over: they told one group to go ahead and sit down while the fish was cut. The other four ordered assorted sashimi through the house, which still arrives from the market; you pay the stall for the fish and the house for the setting.
  2. The table charge held at 6,000 won per person throughout: five posts from October 2025 to September 2026 gave that figure, and one listed 12,000 won for two. Two posts called something expensive. One felt the side dishes were thin for the charge but accepted it as rent for the table; another balked at an extra 10,000 won to butter-grill shrimp heads. A third post found the spread generous and had no regrets.
  3. Window tables look straight at Gwangan Bridge; three posts sat by the large windows. One lunchtime visitor was steered away from the window by the owner, who warned it would be hot.

Posts saying you can park2 of 15 posts

Two posts drove and parked, both in the large Millak public lot next door. Several posts repeat that eating here adds an hour of parking validation, but that line comes from the same fish-stall promotional template, so we treat it as copied, not observed.

Separate restrooms1 of 15 posts

Three posts placed it on the ground floor of the arcade; none mentioned a basement or upstairs. One recalled that these chili-sauce houses used to be street tents before moving into the new building.

No post said whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. That is unknown, not a no.

Only one post covered the toilet: it is outside, along the arcade in the apartment complex, separate for men and women and clean. No other post confirms it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No post described getting here by subway or bus; they only place it across from the fish market, walkable from Gwangalli Beach.
  • Nobody reported waiting. One post got the last free table at 6 p.m. on a Friday, one had the room to itself at a weekday lunch, and one watched tables get pushed together as the evening filled up. Whether bookings are taken is unknown.
  • Five posts follow one template, all centred on the Joeun Sanghoe fish stall and hitting the same points in the same order. None discloses sponsorship, but we read them as commissioned and counted only first-hand details. One of them says the stall and Deungdae are run together; no other post backs that up.
  • Opening hours appear only in copied info blocks: two posts from March and April 2026 give 10:00 to 2:00 a.m., one from September 2026 gives 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. We can't tell whether the hours changed or were miscopied. No post named a closing day.
  • Only one post listed a phone number (010-4575-2629); the 0507 number in other posts belongs to the fish stall. No post said whether the house takes reservations by phone.
