Cafe

Chaseonchaek

차선책 Chaseonchaek means 'the second-best option' — a plan B; one post ties the name to its flour-free, sugar-free cakes.

Compiled from 10 blog posts read in fullSources →

Chaseonchaek is a café on the third floor of the Theme Tower on the Gwangalli beachfront in Busan (237 Gwanganhaebyeon-ro, unit 301). Its picture windows look straight at the Gwangan Bridge. Inside it's wood and bamboo, and it sells gâteaux at 9,500 won a slice, signature coffees (injeolmi latte, corn miel, Himalayan salt coffee) at 7,500 won and americano at 5,500 won. Two posts by pairs who ordered two drinks and one cake come to 21,500 and 22,500 won. You get a buzzer when your order is ready, and water is self-serve. We read 20 posts from March to October 2026. Eleven of them, from May to October 2026, record an actual visit. We set aside two that used the name only as the ordinary word for 'plan B', and did not count seven listicles or write-ups.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The window is why people come, and it's where they compete. Nine of the eleven visit posts say they could see the Gwangan Bridge through the glass. One post counted exactly four front-row window seats. Five posts got a window seat. Two of those are the same blogger writing up one visit twice; they arrived right at opening. One couple moved over the moment a seat freed up, and one solo visitor happened to find one free at 6:30 pm. Three posts sat further back but said the full-height glass still gave them the sea. One post saw customers turn around and leave when the window seats were taken.
  2. It's one item per person. Three posts mention it: one saw the notice at the top of the menu, one called it mandatory, and one ordered a coffee and a black-sesame cake because of it.

Parking

Posts saying you cannot1 of 10 posts

One post says the building offers no parking. Both posts that came by car parked in public lots and walked: one walked 20 to 25 minutes from a lot near Suyeong Station, the other used the public lot next to the Millak raw-fish market.

Getting inside

Lift to the floor1 of 10 posts
Toilet inside1 of 10 posts

The café is on the building's third floor; one post followed the lobby directory and another took the elevator. No post mentions seating on another level or a basement.

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. One post says they took an elevator from the ground floor to the third. That means no one recorded it, not that access is impossible.

One post says the restroom is inside the café and well kept. Nobody mentioned whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 17 posts we gathered, 7 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No visit post describes getting there by subway or bus. The line '10 minutes on foot from Gwangan Station on Line 2' comes from one post's copied info box, so we don't rely on it.
  • No post describes a line at the door. One blogger couldn't get in on an earlier trip because it was full, and a June post found it very crowded. A weekday 1 pm visit found it not too busy. The waiting seems to be for window seats rather than for entry.
  • Six posts give the opening hours as 11:00 to 22:00, and five of them put last order at 21:30. Most of these are copied info boxes or listicles. Only one post says there is no regular closing day.
  • Two posts list the phone as 0507-1356-0286 and one as 010-2553-0286. No one reserved a table. One write-up, not a visit, says whole cakes can be ordered by phone.
  • Opinions on the gâteaux differ. The three posts that ate one each said something different: dense and mildly sweet, filling for hours; a dry, crumbly chocolate base; tastes nothing like cake, more like a very plain rice cake. The 'six promises' (zero sugar, no wheat flour, gluten-free and so on) are the café's own claims, which posts repeated, so we didn't count them.
  • Several Gwangalli drone-show and ocean-view café listicles include 'review' quotes about this place. They aren't visit records and look invented, so we left them out.
