Bada-aen-jangeo

바다앤장어 Bada-aen-jangeo means 'sea and eel' — the house cooks sea eel (conger) rather than freshwater eel.

Compiled from 28 blog posts read in fullSources →

A large sea-eel restaurant on the second floor of a building on the Ilgwang coast road in Gijang, Busan, serving eel rice bowls as tray sets. The signature is hitsumabushi, grilled sea eel over rice, at 25,000 won (33,000 won large); there is also a simmered-eel bowl, eel katsu, kkanpung eel and a conger cold soup. You order on a table tablet or kiosk and a robot brings the food. We read 30 posts from August 2025 to October 2026; 28 describe an actual meal. One was about the café upstairs and was set aside, and one only introduced the place.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Sixteen posts describe the sea through full-height windows. Two evening visitors could barely see it, and one found the blinds down at about 4 p.m.
  2. Ten posts mention private rooms. One counted two eight-seat tables in a room; another listed a room for sixteen or more plus group tables for 14, 12 and 8.
  3. No post describes waiting. Four found it quiet, all at off-peak times: Monday at the 11 a.m. opening, a weekday lunch, just before lunch, and before dinner. One weekend-lunch visitor got a four-seat table at once but warned that group tables have a wait. Three posts mention plenty of waiting chairs. Nobody reported on weekend evenings.
  4. Nine posts describe ordering and paying up front on a table tablet or kiosk. A robot brings the tray and staff lift it onto the table; four posts say extra side dishes or sauce come on request.
3 more
  1. Seven posts say the eel had no fishy or off smell; none said it did. Several describe the glaze as sweet and salty.
  2. Three posts call it good value: one compared it with a 48,000-won hitsumabushi in central Busan, another paid 50,000 won for two against 70,000 to 100,000 won at other eel houses. One called it neither cheap nor expensive.
  3. Eight posts mention high chairs and five visited with children; one says staff warmed baby food in the microwave. There is a separate kids' katsu set at 12,000 won.

Getting inside

Second floor10 of 28 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 10 (of 28 posts read)
Lift to the floor12 of 28 posts
Toilet inside1 of 28 posts

The restaurant is on the second floor. Ten posts describe parking and going up to the second floor, and twelve mention the lift; parking is on the basement and ground levels. Stepping out of the lift you meet a courtyard pond with goldfish, and one post describes crossing stepping stones to get in.

No post describes the entrance step or arriving with a wheelchair or stroller. Two thought the lift from the car park would make it easy, but did not try it; one post's 'wheelchair accessible' is copied from the listing. That means unreported, not absent.

One post says the toilets are inside the restaurant and several call them very clean. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in two copied info blocks.

No one mentioned: Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Portions divide opinion: nine posts found them generous (mostly the large bowl, the katsu or the kkanpung eel), one found them small, saying the parents wished there were more. One thought the regular size fine for a light eater but short for a big one; another found too little rice under a large bowl of eel.
  • Eel thickness splits too: three posts found it plump, one found it on the thin side.
  • Some posts copy directions from the Idong Susan bus stop (routes 180, 188 and others, a minute's walk), but nobody reports arriving by bus or train. Six posts mention coming by car.
  • Opening hours: all 23 posts that list them give 11:00 to 20:00 daily, seventeen add a 19:30 last order and ten say open every day, mostly in copied info blocks. One October 2025 visitor arrived after 3:30 p.m. and found no afternoon break.
  • Most posts give the phone number as 0507-1403-0589 (a relay number); two give 051-721-0589 and 051-727-0589. Three posts booked through Naver before going.
  • Many posts share a template: ten published between 23 and 28 October 2026 follow the same order (info block, table spacing, first-birthday and 60th-birthday parties, the four ways to eat, 'bring your parents') with the same hashtags. One post discloses sponsorship and four say they paid themselves. The house's own lines about wild sea eel and a sauce tuned dozens of times are copied, so we did not rely on them.
