Paldo Tongdak

팔도통닭 Paldo means 'the eight provinces', an old way of saying all of Korea; tongdak is a whole fried chicken.

Compiled from 20 blog posts read in fullSources →

A fried-chicken house on the second floor of 179 Gwanganhaebyeon-ro, right on Gwangalli Beach, above the café Casa Busano. People order fried, sauced, or the house 'vegetable chicken' (sauced chicken under seasoned green onion), whole, half-and-half or three ways, with draft beer and a straight view of Gwangan Bridge. A September 2026 menu listed fried at 25,900 won, sauced at 26,900 and vegetable at 30,900; an April menu was 2,000 won cheaper on each. We read 30 posts dated March 20 to October 5, 2026; 20 of them record an actual meal.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. The sea-facing terrace is why people come: 11 posts mention the terrace or window seats. The floor splits into an inner hall, mid-terrace tables and the window row on the sea; one post counted nine terrace tables, five of them at the window. Once seated you cannot move, so a window seat opening up later does not help, and one post saw 'no seat changes' printed on the back of staff uniforms.
  2. Window seats come with a two-hour limit, noted by 8 posts. One says non-window terrace tables have no limit; another says the limit applies when people are waiting. On Saturday drone-show nights several posts timed their two hours around the show.
  3. Pickled radish and a bowl of crackers come with every table: 9 posts mention the crackers and 7 say you refill them yourself from a self-serve station. One writer filled up on them before the chicken was done.
  4. The batter reads as crisp: 9 posts say so and one found it less crunchy than hoped. Four posts mention a moist, juicy inside. One found the boneless pieces greasy, with bits of yellow fat.

  1. Families with children are common: of 20 visits, 8 came as families and 7 brought kids, from a toddler of 26 months to primary-schoolers. Two came with friends, two as couples, one as a group. No post mentions high chairs or anything for kids to do.

Getting inside

Lift to the floor1 of 20 posts
Toilet inside1 of 20 posts

The restaurant is upstairs: 9 posts place it on the second floor, and one says there is a lift.

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in; one mentions a lift. That means unknown, not absent.

One post says the toilet is indoors and easy to use; nobody mentions separate men's and women's rooms or an accessible toilet.

No one mentioned: Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Waiting splits 4 to 4. Those who waited: an hour from 6:30 pm on a Chuseok-holiday Saturday, 30 minutes on a drone-show weekend, a Saturday post saying the terrace has its own queue, and a short wait for a terrace table. Those who didn't: an empty room on a rainy day, a window seat free at 8 pm on a Friday, terrace tables left at 6 pm, and a half-empty indoor hall at 6 pm. Saturday drone shows look like the dividing line.
  • One post actually came by subway and found Geumnyeonsan Station exit 1 closest. The '10-minute walk' and '556 m' lines elsewhere are copied. No one wrote about taking a bus.
  • Prices went up: an April 2026 menu shows fried 23,900, sauced 24,900 and vegetable chicken 28,900 won; a September menu shows 25,900, 26,900 and 30,900. One August post called it pricey next to Haeundae and one April post called it reasonable — before and after the rise. One couple put a chicken and two beers at about 40,000 won.
  • Opening hours vary from post to post and are all copied. Weekdays mostly start at 5 pm and close at 1 or 2 am. Posts through June 2026 list a 2 pm weekend opening; posts from July on say 4 pm, so it seems to have changed. Call before going.
  • Four posts give the same number, 051-755-9701. None says whether reservations are taken.
  • Two June 2026 posts built from the same template were not counted: both carry a 'based on Naver Place data' footer and a review-count widget, quote other people's reviews, and one lists noon-to-11 pm hours that match no other post.
  • In high summer the windows are shut and the air-con runs; 3 posts say so and suggest spring or autumn for the open-air feel. One post had bugs landing in beer and on the radish on an open-window night.
