Hwadalgu Yeontan Jjukkumi is an octopus grill one block back from Gwangalli Beach, at Gwangnam-ro 120beon-gil 8 in Suyeong-gu, Busan. Octopus is grilled to order over coal briquettes inside the restaurant and brought to the table on a small warmer. The most-ordered dishes were the sauced grilled octopus (8 posts, 11,900 won a portion) and the jjusae platter of octopus with cheese-topped shrimp (7 posts, 38,500 won for two); octopus dishes start at two portions. Basic sides such as perilla leaves, pickled radish wraps and cold acorn-jelly soup come with the meal, and refills are at a self-serve bar. We read 30 posts dated 21 August 2025 to 7 October 2026; 21 record an actual meal, and 2 turned out to be about other restaurants.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Twelve of the 21 meal posts said the room is large, mostly meaning the tables are well spaced. One noted every table seats four; another found a separate area for groups of eight.
  2. Six posts said octopus is sold only in two-portion units — even for add-on orders, one complained, and a party of three ended up ordering five portions. Two posts mentioned a lunch-only single plate of octopus and pork bulgogi at 12,900 won.
  3. Ten posts got a free steamed egg or bulgogi rice ball for posting a receipt review. The egg listed at 3,000 won in September 2025 and 4,000 won from September 2026. One post said its bottom was burnt; another that it wasn't fluffy.
  4. Three posts walked straight in — around 5 p.m. on a weekday, at the noon opening, and one with no time given. One registered on CatchTable and was seated without a long wait. Two noted a waiting bench outside. No post recorded how long a weekend wait actually took.
3 more
  1. Four posts watched the octopus being grilled in the open kitchen. One described a briquette station in the middle of the room with one staff member doing nothing but the flames, adding that food takes a little longer when orders pile up.
  2. Six posts found it spicy, and even the regular level drew that comment — one compared it to Shin Ramyun. Many cooled it down with the mayonnaise dip, the sweet-potato mousse or the steamed egg. Two posts found the sauce sweet.
  3. Five posts were repeat visits, including a self-described regular. Two said they wouldn't return — one found it too sweet, the other was put off when staff refused to charge a phone.

No post described the floor level or any stairs; only the address says ground floor.

Nobody mentioned a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. Three posts came with children but none mentioned a stroller. That means unknown, not absent.

Only one post mentioned the toilets: separate men's and women's rooms inside, toward the back. Size and accessibility are unknown.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 7 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2025-10-252 posts in one day
2025-08-212 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Portions split three to two: three posts called them generous, two did not, one saying a single jjusae platter isn't a full meal for two.
  • Phone charging got opposite reports: a 25 September 2026 post said it was available, while a 7 October 2026 post said staff flatly refused. Two posts called the staff friendly.
  • One post gave its own walking times: under 10 minutes to Geumnyeonsan Station exits 1 and 3, under 5 to a bus stop. The '658 m from Geumnyeonsan exit 1' line that recurs elsewhere is copied listing text, so we didn't count it.
  • Twelve posts gave the same hours, noon to 11 p.m., nine of them with last orders at 10 p.m. — mostly copied listing text. One said it opens at 11; another gave 5 p.m. to midnight, which matches the Seodong branch's hours and phone number, so we set it aside. No post mentioned a closing day.
  • Prices have gone up. Pork bulgogi and the steamed egg were 10,900 and 3,000 won in September 2025, and 11,500 and 4,000 won in September 2026. The jjusae platter went from 37,900 won (March 2026) to 38,500 won (August 2026 on). The 11,900-won price for sauced octopus dates from September 2025 and March 2026; no later post gave it.
  • Several posts listed the same phone number, 0507-1418-7767. One said CatchTable takes reservations; the other CatchTable mentions were about joining the waitlist. Nobody said whether phone reservations are accepted.
  • Three pairs of posts look written from a template: two disclosed sponsored posts on 21 August 2025, two posts on 25 October 2025 with the same link and structure, and two menu introductions from December 2025 and March 2026 sharing the same sentences. We did not count these six as meals.
