Gumyeongae Pohang Mulhoe
구명애포항물회 Pohang mulhoe is chilled raw-fish soup in the style of the port city of Pohang; the posts do not explain what Gumyeongae means.
Compiled from 23 blog posts read in fullSources →
A small raw-fish house a few minutes' walk from exit 1 of Gwangan Station, across from Gwangan Market. The most-ordered thing is the aged-sashimi set at 36,900 won per person, eaten in 13 of the 23 visit posts: a small mulhoe, steamed egg, corn cheese, kimchi pancake, clam soup and sushi rice come first, then five kinds of aged fish, tempura and a bubbling fish stew. Several posts say even a single mulhoe (Pohang style, 17,900 won) arrives with grilled fish, fish stew, noodles and rice. In winter there is a large-yellowtail course. We read 30 posts from November 2025 to October 2026; 23 describe eating there, and one was about a different restaurant.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- It is a small room. Of 11 posts that described the size, 10 said it is not big — about seven tables, or four-seat tables lined along both walls of a long hall. One post found it roomier than expected. Many mention partitions between tables.
- Tables are limited to two hours. Six posts state it and two more say they were told so; several give the small room as the reason, and one November 2025 diner wrote they would have stayed longer without the limit.
- Waiting is mixed. Two posts met a queue: one arrived at 5 pm in November 2025 to an empty room that later filled with people waiting, another was turned away by crowds on a winter visit. One found only four tables occupied at 5:30 on a weekday, and two were inconclusive (walked straight in on a reservation; no wait 'maybe because it was Thursday'). Seven posts booked ahead, by Naver, phone or CatchTable.
- Easy by subway: nine posts say it is a two-to-five-minute walk from exit 1 of Gwangan Station on Line 2. No post describes arriving by bus.
3 more
- Of 11 posts that mentioned slice thickness, 10 called it thick. The one exception ordered the farmed-fish platter rather than the aged set and found it thinner.
- No post flatly calls it expensive; 14 say the spread is good for the price. Two were unsure: a September 2026 diner felt the mulhoe was small for the money, and a February diner thought the yellowtail course 'maybe a bit pricey'. Receipts show 73,700 won for three (one mulhoe plus a farmed platter for two) and 80,800 won for two (aged set plus drinks).
- Of posts that say who they went with, seven went as a couple and three with friends. One brought a friend's dog.

Parking
6 posts say you can park; 1 say you cannot. We leave the disagreement standing rather than picking a side.

There is no lot of its own; six posts from January to October 2026 say parking at the Sincheon lot (a church car park) one to three minutes' walk away is covered for two hours, with a stamp on the ticket as you leave. One November 2025 post alone said parking was not possible and advised transit. Other 'parking available' lines are copied listing text.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
Easy by subway: nine posts say it is a two-to-five-minute walk from exit 1 of Gwangan Station on Line 2. No post describes arriving by bus.
Getting inside
| Toilet inside | 2 of 23 posts |
|---|
No one described the floor from experience; only the address says ground floor. One November 2025 post walked into the neighbouring shop first and notes the entrance is around to the left.
No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. That means nobody wrote about it, not that it is impossible.
Two posts say the restroom is inside the restaurant. Nobody said whether it is separated by sex or how big it is.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Only one post actually brought a dog. The other 'pets welcome' lines are copied from the listing.
- Sixteen posts list opening hours, all copied from the listing. Twelve say closed Mondays; one says Sundays and one says open daily. Six split closing at 10 pm Tuesday–Thursday and 11 pm Friday–Sunday (one of them opening at 11:00), one says 10 pm weekdays and 11 pm weekends, six give 11 pm and three give 10 pm. A December 2025 post says it stays open to 11 pm at year's end. One post suggests calling 0507-1409-0234 before going.
- The price of the yellowtail course varies by post: 38,900 won per person in November 2025, 48,900 in December, and 39,900, 40,900 or 48,900 won (with the yellowtail roll) in September–October 2026. There seem to be several versions, but we could not tell which price is current. The 36,900-won aged set is consistent.
- Many posts repeat the house's own copy — a chef with 30 years' experience, omija broth aged 72 hours, a free drink for reviews, group bookings up to 26, fish picked at dawn every day. It matches the restaurant's own February 2026 blog, and one post pasted the line 'our partner car park' verbatim. We treat these as copied and did not count them. No post discloses sponsorship; one December 2025 writer says they first came on a sponsored tasting and became a regular.
