Dahae Chojang

다해초장 Chojang is the vinegared chili paste eaten with raw fish, and a chojang-jip like this one is a room where you pay a per-person table fee to eat fish bought from the market stalls downstairs; the posts give no meaning for Dahae.

A chojang-jip on the third floor of the Bogwang building in Gijang Market, Busan. You buy fish and seafood from the stalls and crab shops downstairs, carry it up, and pay 6,000 won a head for a spread of greens and side dishes; the meal ends with a sujebi-laden spicy fish stew at 10,000 won. The fish itself is paid for at the shop that sold it. We read 9 posts from December 2024 to August 2026, 7 of them from people who actually ate here.

What sets it apart

  1. Six of the seven visits brought fish or crab bought elsewhere in the building — from Buja or Seonghwal on the second floor, or Chonggak crab on the first — and the seller trimmed it and carried it up to the table. One couple walked in empty-handed; the owner fetched the fish for them, and they paid the fish shop separately on the way out.
  2. Four posts note how many greens come with the spread — one called it bunches of them, another said the variety and quantity were generous. Diners also wrapped fish in laver and aged kimchi.
  3. Six of the seven visits ordered the stew; three described it as hot and sharp, and one said it had no fishy taste at all.
  4. One post found no menu board inside and looked the menu up on Naver; only steamed egg and a kids' pork cutlet were posted small on the wall.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 3 (of 7 posts read)

Nobody wrote about steps at the door, wheelchairs, strollers or a lift. Two posts walked up the stairs to the third floor — that does not mean there is no lift, only that no one mentioned one.

No one said whether the toilet is inside the restaurant. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in two copied listing blocks.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 9 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • The move from a 30-seat room to an 80-seat one next door on the same floor comes only from the shop's own listing, copied into one post, and from one diner repeating it. All the posts we read appear to postdate it; a December 2024 visitor counted 17 tables.
  • No one described getting here by train or bus. The '335 m from Gijang Station exit 1' line belongs to a copied listing for the fish shop downstairs; the visitors either drove or didn't say.
  • Nobody reported waiting for a table; one post went at an early weekday lunch and found it quiet. We don't know about weekend evenings. Two posts waited 50 and 20 minutes for their fish, but that is the downstairs shop's filleting time.
  • Opening hours appear only in two copied blocks and they disagree: 10:00–21:30 (October 2025) versus 10:00–22:00 with last orders at 20:00 and every other Tuesday off (February 2025). No visitor reported the hours first-hand.
  • What a meal costs depends on how much fish you buy, so this place's own prices don't tell you. One couple paid 27,000 won here — 12,000 for two table fees, 10,000 for the stew, 5,000 for soju — plus 30,000 won to the fish shop for a kilo of eel sashimi.
  • Two posts give the same phone number, 0507-1469-0743. Reservations are mentioned only in copied listing info; no one wrote about booking.
