Subyeon Choego Dwaeji Gukbap Lotte-jeom

수변최고돼지국밥 롯데점 Subyeon means 'waterside' — the chain's main branch sits by the Millak waterside park in Gwangalli; choego is 'the best', and dwaeji gukbap is Busan's pork-and-rice soup.

A branch of the Subyeon Choego pork-soup chain on the 9th-floor food court of Lotte Department Store's Busan main store in Seomyeon. The signature is pork-jowl soup at 14,000 won; the plain pork and sausage soups are 12,000 won, and a single set with a small jowl soup and a plate of mixed boiled pork is 19,000 won (22,000 large). Side dishes arrive on the table and refills come from a self-serve bar. We read 30 posts dated 9 February to 20 October 2026; 25 describe a visit (two of those gave up because of the queue). Three were about other restaurants and two were list or promo posts we did not count.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect to wait at lunch and on weekends: 21 of the 25 visit posts mention a queue. The waits they give are under 10 minutes, 30, 30, 40, a little over an hour, and close to two hours — one couple registered at 12:30 on a Saturday and got in around 2:20; another was 60th–70th in line at noon on a holiday. Two posts saw 100 and 34 parties ahead and went elsewhere. Those who came around 11 a.m. found 3 or 6 parties or none, but 29 and 8 parties waiting when they left. You join remotely via the door tablet or the Tabling app, choose your dishes when you register, and the whole party must be present to be seated.
  2. Nine posts say extra sides come from a self-serve bar — kimchi, radish kimchi, chillies, onion, ssamjang and salted shrimp. One notes you get aged kimchi, radish kimchi and fresh geotjeori all at once.
  3. Seven posts call it roomy for a department-store food court: partitioned booths along the walls, two- and four-seat tables in the middle, and solo seats at the back screened off like study carrels.
  4. Eight posts call it clean — one says tableware and tables were spotless and the ventilation kept the soup smell out of their clothes; another notes every self-bar container was lidded.
2 more
  1. Seven posts say the meat portions are generous; one says the large size is a lot even for a grown man. One post differs: the small jowl soup in the single set felt a little light on meat.
  2. Two posts say staff brought a high chair or that they added one on the waiting tablet. There is a 5,000-won children's soup for kids eight and under.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 5 (of 24 posts read)
Lift to the floor4 of 24 posts

It is on the 9th-floor food court, not a basement; five posts describe going up to the 9th floor.

Four posts say it is right in front of you when you step off the elevator.

No one wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. We only know it is on the 9th floor, reached by elevator. That is an absence of reports, not a confirmed barrier.

No post says whether there is a restroom inside the restaurant or only the department store's shared ones.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opinions split on greasiness: three posts found the jowl soup or pork platter turning heavy, one said it was not greasy at all.
  • Two posts found it salty — one says even her salt-loving husband thought so. Several others simply skipped the salted shrimp because the broth was already seasoned.
  • One post describes arriving by subway, registering for the queue as they got off at Seomyeon Station. Lines like '144 m from exit 7' are copied listing data and not counted.
  • Twelve visit posts give the same hours, 10:30 to 20:30 daily, eight with last orders at 20:00 — all copied from listings. Five say it closes on Lotte Department Store's regular closing days, so check the store's calendar.
  • Prices held steady from March to October 2026: 14,000 won for the jowl soup, 12,000 won for the plain pork soup. One post lists the jowl platter at 38,000/30,000 won, but two others say 40,000 won, so it likely copied the plain suyuk prices. The 13,000-won figure in another post is the Centum branch.
  • Five posts give the same phone number, 0507-1344-3941. Instead of reservations there is remote queuing on Tabling; one post names CatchTable instead.
  • The spicy pork udon is called new from the March 2026 posts onward. One post notes this branch has no offal-based soups. Most posts say a chili paste comes on the side; one says the house uses spicy scallion salad instead.
