Karen

카렌 롯데백화점부산본점 Karen Lotte Baekhwajeom Busan Bonjeom Karen is the brand name of a teppanyaki chain the posts describe as Taiwanese; the name has no Korean meaning, and this branch sits in the basement food hall of Lotte Department Store's Busan main store.

A Taiwanese-style teppanyaki set-meal counter in the B1 food hall of Lotte Department Store's Busan main store in Seomyeon, next to Samjin Eomuk. You order and pay first, sit at the bar wrapped around the griddle, and a cook grills meat or fish in front of you, then serves it on one tray with rice, egg-and-seaweed soup, bean sprouts, carrot rapé and salad. As of October 2026 posts, set meals run 13,900–16,900 won and two-person sets 36,900–47,700 won. We read 30 posts dated April 23 to October 22, 2026; one was not about this place, leaving 29 visits — 18 of them published between October 11 and 22.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Seating is at a bar wrapped around the griddle. Fifteen posts said so — 'no tables, only bar seats', 'every seat is at the bar'; one more only said the seats are 'mostly' bar-style. Five posts came alone, and one family of three wrote it was their first time eating side by side at a counter.
  2. Twenty-seven posts said they watched the cook work the griddle right in front of them. Two noted an extractor hood over the griddle that pulls the smoke away; one sat on the far side, couldn't see the cooking, but said no smell clung to them.
  3. Eight posts reported seeing high chairs. Four came with children; in one, staff seated the child away from the front of the hot griddle unprompted and brought child-size cutlery. The kids' set (8,900 won) is 70 g of fish and two fried eggs.
  4. One post noted the chair covers double as pouches for a small bag or shopping — useful at a counter with nowhere else to put things.
3 more
  1. Seven posts said it is close to or connected with Seomyeon Station; one actually walked in through the subway-linked entrance.
  2. Seasoning splits opinion: two posts found it on the salty side, one warning it may be too salty for children; three found it mild.
  3. On price, seven posts said it isn't expensive; one flagged that add-on sides add up, without a clear verdict. None called it expensive.

Four posts actually parked. Posts say validation is given at payment by plate number, scaled to spend, but one diner got none and paid the base 2,000 won per 30 minutes. The spend-to-hours tables are copied listings, not counted.

Getting inside

In a basement26 of 29 posts
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 29 posts read)

Twenty-six posts placed it in the B1 food hall; one described taking the escalator up from the parking levels. A single post said B2 instead.

No post says anything firsthand about steps, wheelchairs or strollers at the entrance; one 'wheelchair-accessible seating' line is copied from a listing. Nor does anyone mention a lift. Absence of mention is not confirmation either way.

Only one post covered toilets: you use the department store's restrooms, not one inside the shop. Nobody said how far they are.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Prices rose during 2026: the two-person premium set went from 45,700 won (May) to 46,700 (June–July) to 47,700 (one October post); the one-person premium set from 21,900 to 23,900 won (now with an egg); white fish from 12,900 to 13,900; cuttlefish from 5,000 to 6,000. The two-person A set is 36,900 won in five posts and 37,900 in two.
  • Menu names changed: May posts list a beef-rib set and a pork bulgogi set; from July the same slots are the 'emperor' rib steak and soy-glazed pork neck. The A set changed accordingly, from top-blade plus bulgogi to rib plus pork neck.
  • No post describes queueing. Three found it quiet, all early — one arrived around 10:50 to a single other party, and every seat was taken soon after 11. Two found it nearly full at lunch. One mention of 'even if the wait is long' is unclear. We don't know how long waits run.
  • Opening hours: fourteen posts give weekdays 10:30–20:00 and weekends 10:30–20:30, closed on the department store's closing days — all copied listings. Two put Friday at 20:30, two say 20:00 every day, three give a 10:00 opening. Two list last orders at 19:30 weekdays and 20:00 weekends. Hours follow the store's, so check before going.
  • The phone number 0507-1462-8603 recurs across posts, always copied; nobody reported phoning or booking, and one listing block says reservations are not taken.
  • Two posts disclosed sponsorship, one said it paid its own way, and twenty-six said nothing. Eighteen posts between October 11 and 22 repeat the same three search phrases in the same template and may be commissioned, so we leaned on checkable facts — seating, prices, what's served — rather than praise.
