Haru Udong Seomyeon
하루우동 서면본점 Udon and pork cutlets by the Seomyeon cram schools
Data as of · Published ·
Haru Udon Seomyeon is a udon-and-cutlet shop on the ground floor of the A1 Plaza building in Busan's Seomyeon, between the Samjung Tower and the Kyobo bookshop, five to eight minutes' walk from exit 8 at Beomnaegol. The udon comes plain, shabu, mala, curry, rosé or cold; there is also buckwheat, a pork cutlet, a roe rice bowl and a pork-jowl bowl, and the sets that add a cutlet and an inari parcel land in the eleven-to-fifteen-thousand-won band. You order at a kiosk and fetch your own water — which is not water but barley-and-hovenia tea. Open daily, closed between three and four. Forty-two square metres, mostly tables for two plus four seats at a counter facing the wall, and a lot of people eating alone. The posts we read run from April 2025 to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart
- A good place to eat alone — thirteen posts mention the counter. Two counted the room and agree: seven tables for two, one for four, and four seats at a bar facing the wall. Two note that the counter looks at a wall rather than into the kitchen. Two writers came alone, and five others report other solo diners around them — the evening crowd, or the students from the cram schools nearby. There are ordinary tables too, and one writer says staff will push them together for a group.
- You order and pay at a kiosk — thirteen posts say so. Two note the big menu board outside, which lets you decide before going in. When there is a queue the order reverses: you punch your order into the kiosk first, then wait outside in a line, because there is no room to wait indoors. Three posts mention clearing your own tray to the return window at the end.
- The water is hovenia tea — ten posts stop to mention it. One was glad it was not plain water; another found it cut the fried food in summer; a third warmed their hands on it in January, so it is served cold or hot by season. Two taste it as barley tea. Two found sweets on the self-service bar, and one found hair ties.
- Kimchi and pickled radish come from a self-service bar — nine posts mention it. Two describe the kimchi as stir-fried and they disagree flatly: one found it pleasantly half-ripened and the radish fresh, while another found it steamed rather than fried, watery and limp, and did not go back for more.
- Fourteen posts call the cutlet crisp, and thirteen actually ate one — usually as part of a set. Two specify a thin coating rather than a heavy one, and three note the pork is cut thick. One dissents: crisp, yes, but an ordinary taste. On the sauce they divide between an old-fashioned Korean cutlet sauce with tomato in it and something nearer demi-glace.
- Food arrives fast and tables turn over fast — seven posts say so. Five to ten minutes from kiosk to table, one reports; cooked to order and nothing lost in the pass, says another. This is what they connect the queue to: the room would be tight for twenty at once, but with the kitchen moving at that speed a queue is not much of a problem, and one writer waited five to ten minutes for a table on a weekday evening.
- Write a receipt review and you get something free — ten posts mention it. Four give the fullest version of the choice: two prawn tempura, one sausage skewer, or a canned drink. Two mention only the prawn or the drink, and one post from May 2026 says the freebie was a cheese cutlet, so the offer seems to have changed over time. Two say one per table. Two describe a separate social-media version needing four hashtags. One writer declined it — too much bother, and they wanted the review to stay unpaid-for.

Parking
1 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Eight posts say parking is subsidised; one person actually parked. Seven of the eight carry the same copied line about an hour's support at the A1 Plaza underground lot with 500 won left to the driver. The one who parked wrote it out: the machine lot under the same building, an hour covered, 500 won of your own, the standing rate being 3,000 won an hour, and the staff looking up your plate and registering it on your way out if you ask. The same writer adds that in central Seomyeon it is not easy to park at weekends. No other post gives the rate or the procedure.

Getting there

Getting inside
| Toilet inside | yes 0 · no 1 (of 18 posts read) |
|---|
Ground floor — though no writer states the floor in their own words. The registered address carries "1F, unit 112," and fifteen posts reproduce that address, but the line comes from Naver's check-in widget. Nobody describes stairs, an upper floor or a basement, and eight note that the building's basement is the car park.
Not one post says whether you can get in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. Across eighteen posts the words for threshold, step, ramp and lift never appear. We know it is the ground floor of a commercial building with parking underneath, that the room is tight with the kiosk near the door, and that the toilet is outside the unit — but nobody describes the entrance. This is not a claim that you cannot get in; it is us saying we do not know.
The toilet is outside the restaurant and locked with a code — one person says so (September 2026). They list it as outside with a keypad, and sign off by telling readers the code is hidden somewhere in their photos. Two other posts say the toilets are separated by sex, and we counted neither — in both it appears inside a copied run of Naver's facility tags, and neither writer says they went. So whether it is in fact separated by sex, and what floor it sits on, nobody wrote down.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 24 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
| 2026-04-03 | 2 posts in one day |

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- There is usually a queue — nine posts saw one, and all three who waited for nothing had timed their visit. Those who waited: ten minutes on a weekend afternoon, five to ten on a weekday evening, a scrum at the kiosk the moment the afternoon break ended on a public holiday, a full room at two on a weekday. Those who did not: two o'clock with plenty of empty tables, five o'clock with one left, a single seat free at lunch. Two writers saw both in one sitting — no queue when they arrived, a queue forming while they ate. Four advise going outside peak hours. Only one post mentions taking bookings, and that was a copied line, so we did not count it.
- It is small — nine posts say so and one says the opposite. The phrasings run from "cramped" to "not wide, but a lot of tables in it." The dissenting post says the seating felt ample, but it did not count the seats; the two posts that did count came to twelve or fewer. The registered floor area is 42 square metres.
- Reachable by subway, though the posts disagree on which station. Five give directions: four measure from exit 8 at Beomnaegol — five, seven or eight minutes, or 492 metres — while the one that names Seomyeon station instead is a post we excluded. Far more of them navigate by landmarks above ground: eleven name the Samjung Tower and three the Kyobo bookshop, and the shortest direction given is simply "between the two." Three mention the cram-school district, four the office workers nearby.
- The last order time is disputed. Ten posts give one: nine say 19:30 and one says 17:30, which would be two and a half hours before closing, so it looks like a transcription slip — but it is not ours to correct, so we leave both standing. Only that one post mentions closing days at all, to say there are none; the other seventeen say nothing about them. All thirteen posts that mention the afternoon break give the same hour, but five tie it to weekends and holidays while eight give no days. One writer arrived at 3:45 on a public holiday and waited until four.
- One in four of the posts we read was not written by someone who went. We read all twenty-five and took seven out of the count. Three look like one commissioning template: the same three dishes in the same order, Naver's review-count widget scraped onto the end of all three, and not one price between them. Two of those only say which dishes "caught their eye" and never say they ate; the third discloses a fee. One looks machine-written — it has one person eating four dishes while containing nothing of this particular restaurant (no kiosk, no self-service bar, no hovenia tea, no queue, no seat count). Two carry copied details only, and one is a twenty-restaurant roundup that ends by calling itself the output of an automated algorithm. That is why the number is eighteen and not twenty-five. Of the eighteen, one declares a sponsorship and four say they paid; the other thirteen say nothing about how they paid.
