Gang Galbitang

강갈비탕 Galbitang is a clear soup of beef short ribs; none of the posts explain the 'Gang' in front of it.

Compiled from 29 blog posts read in fullSources →

Gang Galbitang is a short-rib soup house on Saessak-ro in Bujeon-dong, Seomyeon, on the main road near Bujeon Market. The plain galbitang is 14,000 won, the spicy one 15,000, galbi gukbap 9,500 and galbi guksu 13,500, and many diners add thick Jeju noodles for 2,500. You pay at a kiosk by the door, each meal comes on its own tray, and extra side dishes are self-serve. Most posts copy an opening time of 9:20 a.m., and several people came for a hangover breakfast. We read 30 posts dated April 18 to October 19, 2026; 29 of them describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Twenty-five posts say the first round of sides is served and refills come from a self-serve bar. The tray brings kkakdugi, chili, garlic, pickled chorogi and a soy dipping sauce; dried radish and mustard-leaf kimchi are only at the bar, which one writer called the hidden sides. Several mention a coffee machine and ice maker beside it, and chili paste sits in the fridge by the counter.
  2. Of the 23 posts that describe the seating, nearly all lead with the wall-facing bar counter and single seats; eating alone comfortably is the main thread here. One post lists 2-, 4- and 6-person tables, another a group table for eight, and one notes partitions between tables.
  3. Sixteen posts say the portions are large. Several count three rib bones in the galbitang; one counts four, and three in the noodle soup. Glass noodles come in by default along with a bowl of rice, and with the noodle add-on some could not finish.
  4. Waiting is mixed. One post (October 8, 2026) actually waited in line. Two sat straight down, one at Saturday noon and one at weekday lunch. Four only say lunch gets busy or that they would have waited had they come later. One regular went around 11 a.m. to beat the rush and still found people inside.

  1. Seventeen posts describe ordering and paying first at a kiosk; one says there are two, at the door and further in, and several note the counter takes orders for cash or anyone who struggles with the screen. Food is brought to your seat.
  2. Four posts saw foreign diners; one had them at both neighboring tables, another noticed a multilingual review notice.
  3. Three posts came with a child, two of them using a high chair. One says staff warmed the baby's food in the microwave and allowed food brought from outside. Other mentions of high chairs are copied listing info, which we did not count.

Parking

9 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park9 of 29 posts

You park at the nearby Blue Parking lot (399-8 Bujeon-dong), not at the shop, and spending 20,000 won gets 30 minutes free per table. Nine posts describe using it, six of them clearly arriving by car. One says the lot takes cards only, charges 1,500 won for 30 minutes and 500 won per 10 minutes after, and may be full at mealtimes. Get the voucher at the counter; one writer says staff offered it unprompted. One copied info block says no parking, which likely means the building itself has none.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 29 posts

No post describes the floor from experience. The address says ground floor and one post mentions seeing in through glass walls, but nobody confirmed it — we don't know.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in, not even those who came with a baby. That is not a no; nobody wrote about it.

Only one post says the restroom is inside the shop; men's and women's restrooms appear only in copied listing info, which we did not count.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Size is disputed: two posts call it spacious, three say it is not big, though those three add that the tables are not cramped.
  • Three posts say from experience that it is walkable from Seomyeon Station; the '318 m from exit 11' and '5 to 8 minutes on foot' lines are copied directions.
  • Opening hours are almost all copied. Most give 9:20 a.m. to 9 p.m., a 3–4 p.m. break and last order at 8:20; one says 8:30. An October 2026 post read 9:30 a.m. on the door sign, and a May post also said 9:30. Two copy 'open every day'.
  • Prices are consistent across June–October 2026 posts (14,000 won for the plain soup). A May 2026 regular noted prices had gone up a little since their first visits, without giving figures. Four posts call it good value.
  • Most posts give the phone number 0507-1366-6798; one gives 051-940-1180. Reservations appear only in copied listing info, and no one wrote about actually booking by phone.
  • Nearly every post uses the same three search phrases (Seomyeon gukbap, solo dining, solo drinking) in its title and tags, and most date from September–October 2026. Only one discloses sponsorship. One was written from material supplied to the writer, so we did not count it as a visit. Claims like 'boiled fresh every morning' and '48-hour broth' are the shop's own slogans and we did not rely on them.
